I'm looking into getting the Asus P5AD2 motherboard and some sites say I DDR2 memory specifically... How does this different from, say, two one gig sticks of Kingston Value memory of PC3200(400MHz) DDR SDRAM?
DDR2 will be the next interface. Itis like comparing SDR ram to DDR. Right now there is no performance gain and you will have to pay a price premium for it so IMO it is not worth it. In the future though it will be faster. The differnce between DDR and DDR2 is DDR2 is capable of running at higher speeds and uses less power. But right now they can not get the CAS latency low enough to see the advantage of it.
All this bring said, I can I trust Mwave.com brand memory? I want to get two 1 gig sticks so that I have the other two slots on this motherboard free for future expansion.
