DDR2-9600 RAM to go with a Q9450?

Is this RAM a good choice?

i'm worried the heatsinks are too big, i might have to go with stock cooling until i find something better🙁

any suggestions on a CPU heatsink that will work with this RAM?

oh and the board its going on is a gigabyte X48-DQ6

thanks mates

good question😀

i'm just trying to make my system as fast as possible without OC'ing i guess.....i was told to get this RAM, as its the fastest one can get in DDR2

It'll not even run at those speeds (by default) if you're not overclocking.

hmmm then i might try oc'ing a bit and see what happens. i dont have a clue how to though - i wonder what the default speed would be.....i guess i'll find out later today

any suggestions for a cpu cooler that would be tall enough?

well fook me.

maybe i should just RAM them then and get some corsair dominator pc-8500 then?

Again, DDR2-1000 will be less expensive with no real performance loss. The importance of RAM speed is greatly overrated, and memory manufacturers are willing to perpetuate the hype since it brings in more money for them.

Core2 systems just aren't limited by memory bandwidth, so the extra "speed" of high performance RAM is generally nothing more than a placebo effect.

Again, the corsair dominator PC2-8500 won't run at that speed unless you're overclocking it. To be very basic: if you don't understand the memory speeds the best thing to do is just buy some DDR2-800 and enjoy the fact that you didn't waste money on performance you'll never get, or use.
