DDR2 800MHz vs. DDR3 1066MHz

If I compare laptops with similar specifications and prices but the RAM is DDR2 at 800 MHz on one and DDR3 at 1066 MHz at the other, which one is the best? I understand that DDR3 at 1333MHZ and above is much better and ...expensive but bit confused with the 1066MHz.

yes price is similar. Does this mean that I should go for DDR3/1066 instead of DDR2/800?

You're not going to see any noticeable performance difference.

I'd be recommending the DDR3 if all else is the same, as that likely means a newer [better] chipset, not to mention the fact that DDR3 is & will be cheaper & easy to upgrade than DDR2, especially as time passes...

Here's my opinion. Evwntually, the market will outst ddr2 like it did to ddr. By that time if you still have the machine. You might be looking at inflated prices due to supply/demand if that ever happens.

Ddr4 will do the same to ddr3, but atleast the resale value of ddr3 will be there longer than ddr2.
