Can anyone link some benchmarks or anything really that compares DDR2 667 vs. DDR2 800, particularly when using the Intel Core2 Duo processors?

I would like to find out if there is any point in going with DDR2-800 over DDR2-667 if I get a E6300 or E6400.

Thanks!

see this article, you will notice that the loss of performance when going from ddr2-800 to ddr2-667 is not nearly as detrimental in C2D as it is with AM2.

Looks like DDR 800 is a good 'sweet spot' for those wishing to do some OC'ing, but not push things too far. For bleeding-edge performance it's 1000 and up it seems.

What did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? I'm having a hard time finding it for sale (admittedly I only spent 1.5 minutes looking ;) )

Thanks for the link, that's less than I thought it would be. Honestly, I've never heard of 'Team Group' as a brand name before. I'm guessing it's pretty good stuff?

Very good

They've been around for a while actually, making RAM for other brands.

And for OCing, Team Group = superb.

Check the threads in XS.org for the results.

BTW, this stuff will very likely hit 1000 5-5-5-15 also: http://www.tankguys.biz/ddr2-3338-p-167...sCsid=871bf2eb9b352ee37d2725a7b130c99e

I'm pretty happy with my PC2-8000
I haven't even found its max yet, but i can do DDR2-850 4-4-3 2.3V if i want tight timings, & while i didn't test stability much, it boots & runs SuperPI @ 1000 4-4-4 :Q

I got my Corsair XMS2-6400 (DDR2-800) for under $200 after a rebate a little while back and I do DDR2-1000 at 5-5-5-15 as well.

Now it is more expensive than when I got it, but still less than $311 at zzf

I would imagine your Yate Loons are helping to keep the memory cool with the extra voltage being applied to it :)

Any pics of your PC guts? I wouldn't mind seeing how you cabled everything in that Antec case as I'll be building a very similar system myself in the next week or so.

I don't keep my case entirely clean of cables. You'll see that my 8Pin CPU 12v power connector from my Seasonic S12 is not very long so I had to run it right over my PCi slots after installing the cards. There's other things I'd like to do, but just can't fit/tuck them out of the way because of cable length.

But I won't have to pay sales tax at TankGuys, nor will I have to deal with a mail-in rebate:

Overall, the prices are pretty close, especially when you consider that you have to fork out the cash up front for the Corsair, then wait a month or longer to get your money back.

I didn't know you would be paying tax. I'm in FL so I don't pay tax on anything I order online.

Yea I live in California where 80% of the online merchants seem to have an office or storefront so I end up getting charged for sales tax, very annoying when you're paying for that on top of shipping. It's almost enough to make me want to go to CompUSA (please tell me I did not just type that).

Thanks for the pic. I thought the Seasonic had long enough cables for the Antec P180. That was going to be my exact setup but now I'm second-guessing, I really want to be able to keep the cables out of the way. Everything else in yours looks very clean, BTW.

The cables are long enough, but you see Antec forgot that some people don't like cables hanging all over the place. I dare you to find a PSU with a EPS 12v cable long enough to tuck it out of the way. I did what I could given the length of the cables I have to work with. Yate loon fans don't have very long cables either. Normally I remove the upper HDD cage and run bare. This allows the fan in that area to blow air in a little better I think.

You should really put a psu in that thing. Where in the world is it?

The PSu is housed in the lower chamber that is out of the picture. The power cables are routed through an opening leading down to that lower chamber. There's also a HDD cage in that part of the system and that's where my HDDs are housed.
