DDR2 4300 memory

I just wanted to double check,
I recently purchased DDR2 Dual 512. . .

Dual just means that its 256 that is exactly the same right? So basically if I just buy 2 of the same DDR2 memory, it will run dual correct?

"512MB DDR2 PC2-4300 533MHz ECC Un-Buffered DIMM module"

thanks

If you buy two 512MB (hopefully identical branded) sticks of Ram, you will be able to run in Dual channel if your motherboard supports dual channel (and the Ram you bought). You would have 1024 MB of Dual channel Ram.

(If you bought two 256MB sticks, you would have 512MB dual channel ram)

You don't always have to get modules that are identical in brand, as long as they are of the same size and type, they will suffice. But generally, modules that come in a pack together with identical size, type as well as brand, are pre-optimized to obtain low latencies and fast timings. Thats all. I managed to run a Hynix and Samsung in one of my old P4 systems fine.

right now i got two 256 dual PNYs, i will be getting the HP brand two 512. . . will that still work? I got 4 slots. . .i can't find my manual at moment, but it's an intel p915pbl
