DDR18V says fail

in my bios in pc health it says DDR18v fail, i dont know why it says fail, since my setting are normal. i used safe default settings but it still says the same.

i have a gigabyte ds4 motherboard.

can anyone help?
 
This is typical of Gigabyte BIOSs when mem voltage is raised above normal. Are you sure that the DDR Voltage option is set to normal ?
 
it wasn't before, it everything is set to normal. thats why i cant understand why it still says "FAIL" will it cause me any problems? whats the worst sinario with it saying fail?
 
If you have the DDR Voltage option set to normal and you still get the DDR1.8V fail message then something is definitely wrong. If this is the case then there is no telling what the worst scenario may be. I suggest that you update your BIOS to the latest ver available. After that get into BIOS, load optimized defaults, save and reboot. Enter BIOS again and check whether you're getting the same error. If you are still getting the same error message then I suggest that you e-mail Gigabyte's tech support if you haven't done so already.
 
my friend just messed is computer up updating the bios. it wont even turn on. but he was stupid, cos he doesn't know what he was doin. ( neither will i if i do ) however i do have a friend who can do it for me. But i have a few questions first. updating the bios, will that mean i'll loose everything on my computer?

I've heard of a few stories of people updating the bios and computer crashes. ( like my friend )

but i know for certain that i will need to ,becuase i left it standard when installed the motherboard.
 
No, a BIOS update won?t erase your data but it?s still a delicate procedure.

The first thing you have to do is to identify the right BIOS file for your mobo. You sure don?t want to use a BIOS file that?s intended for another mobo as this will definitely screw your primary BIOS and maybe your board too. After downloading the file from Gigabyte?s site unzip its contents to a floppy. After that you can use Gigabyte?s Qflash utility to flash your BIOS. You can access Qflash by pressing the end key while posting or by pressing the F8 key from within BIOS.

Your board comes with a backup BIOS also. If you mess up the update procedure you can always try to use the backup BIOS to boot. It is wise not to flash both primary and backup BIOS. Just flash your primary and leave the backup with the old ver as an ?insurance?.

You can check your current BIOS ver by pressing the F9 key from within BIOS. After updating you can use this to verify that your BIOS ver has changed.
 
another question... would it not be easier and safer if i used @bios? in my manual, it's says it will download the latest bios, and update it.
 
@BIOS will work but I?ve heard of too many guys getting into trouble with it. I use facewizard myself and had no troubles, ever. I suggest that you make sure nothing else is running and give it a shot !
 
how long will it take on @bios?
do you think i should do that myself. ( i mean, if it does it all for you. ) or shall i wait until my friend has time.

 
I don?t think that it?ll take more than a couple of minutes to update your BIOS, that?s of course after downloading the BIOS file (another couple of minutes). Since you haven?t done anything similar and this poses some danger to your mobo it would be prudent to have your more experienced friend perform this for you and you should observe and learn. Of course the procedure for flashing your BIOS with @BIOS is so simple that you could also try it but it?s still better to have somebody a little more experienced handling this and I really mean no offence with that.
 
thats ok mate, i prefer honesty. i think i'll wait for my friend then. i have the file d/l for the update. ds4 1.0 F7 bios. anyway thanks for the help!

i will do mate. if it doesn't solve my DDR18V " FAIL " problem, then you can help me diagnose thhe problem,lol.

hello! my friend came round! ( how good time ) i've updated the bios, but it still was F4 and not F7, never gave me the choice, but anyway... it's got rid of my "fail " message and says ok now. so i'm happy. but do you think i still need to update to the latest version of the bios?
