I plan on getting 2 512 MB DIMMs for my new system. I was looking at ones with a CAS Latency of 2.0. I saw Kingston's HyperX kind that have CAS 2.0, but it said on their website that they require +2.6V. The manual I downloaded off Gigabyte's website to the Gigabyte motherboard I just purchased (GA-8IK1100 which is the same as the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP but with less features) said that it only supported 2.5V for the RAM. The manual I downloaded was a single manual that covered both model motherboards I listed in (). I saw on the Anandtech 865PE and 875P memory guide that they tested the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP motherboard with Kingston HyperX CAS 2.0 and it passed. So can I use this Kingston HyperX memory on this board without any problems.

Also does anyone know if these are good or fine brands of DDR SDRAM to get: OCZ Technology, Kingmax, and TwinMOS?

Also what does each number represent in the memory timings in this example and how important is each number for performance: 2-2-2-5?

I don't know about the memory timing, but as far as memory I have a good idea. If you saw on the Anandtech website, they just had an article about the memory for the 875p/865p chipsets.

Here is the link http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.html?i=1828

I personally would say go with Crucial because every memory module I have purchased from them, they have worked without a problem.
