it is sold out but is this good stuff? is it a decent deal? i am gunna buy a new system..i am not sure amd nor intel...or ddr vs. rambus
i have long been a supporter for amd ...just 1.6a processor is impressing me especially with a ddr setup and stability. hm? any advice? Text

I remember reading somewhere, that many sticks of pc2700 sticks can't do that speed at cas 2. Add that to the fact that this is a brand that some have claimed to be less than stellar. I wouldn't sugggest thinking this will be your upgrade path to a 266 fsb system if you want to be running at cas 2. Then again, it may do it just fine. It's not guaranteed to be cas 2, so just don't expect that. Being pc3000, it should give you a little bit of headroom for O/C if you choose to, but I wouldn't bet too much on that either. I've read better things about kingmax.

PS, this isn't really a hot deal since no one can actually get in on it. Advice would be better from another forum.

from what i have seen faster ram really isn't leading to faster system performance with amd machines. better memory bandwidth, yes, but the current athlon isn't designed for more bandwidth and it doesn't really take advantage of it.

the p4 is probably different since its a bandwidth hog. maybe this would be the perfect complement for a northwood 1.6a????

dew.

Haha, just reading this thread and thinking about my DDR memory getting 2700mbps at 362mhz DDR I realized that my memory and board is DDR333, I had been thinking that I was underclocking a few mhz for some reason I thought it was supposed to be DDR366, so I am actually overclocking my ram by 30mhz ddr, cool!

Real world performance on a p4 1.6a is this

at 1:1 memory ratio at 145fsb 2100mbps (cpu at 2320mhz memory at 290DDR)
at 3:5 memory ratio at 133fsb 2400mbps (cpu at 2133mhz memory at 333DDR)
at 4:5 memory ratio at 145fsb 2700mbps (cpu at 2320mhz memory at 362DDR)

These are my benchmarks from my system using sandra.

never buy ocz ram

their is a reason why ocz site is banned here

their ram is just horrible

their pc2700 is not true DDR333 either and often times it can not reach that spec

there are no oficial specs for pc2700 and pc3000, this is just memory that they got to test at that speed and that was probably running CL3, you are better off getting some good pc2100 for less and make sure it is CL2
