I lost ( bad me) my reciept from my last purchase for ungrade stuff and I got a 1.4 AMD T bird, an Asus A7M266 motherboard, and 2 sticks of 256 Samsung PC-2100 DDR memory. It was from one of my regular places like Accubyte or something like that, always very reputable, but I have a question and since I cannot find the reciept I do not know who to write to with this information.

I bought PC-2100 DDR but on one of the load up screens on bootup shows 512 of PC-1600 installed. My Soft Sandra scores are high ( it does not tell me wht type it is) and I do not know where else to look, this is what is on each chip if this help anyone, does not me.

upper left hand side 0120
left side MT TG
right side 2-2
bottom of chip ATP/AG32L64138SEBOM 256 MB UNB DDR SDRAM
747-062601

Does anyone know if this helps figure out what is in there? I have every reason to believe they shipped the right stuff unless they made an accident, I use them a lot, just cannot remember exactly who it was, it performs like 2100 and is very fast, but I am confused by the 1600 boot up screen. I guess it does not matter, just think I should get what I paid for. Thanks for any ideas, I am sorry to bother you guys with this instead of the shop, but it is my fault for not finding the invoice. Thank you!!

thats most likely it. pc1600 runs at 100fsb, 2100 runs at 133. make sure your processor is a 133(266) processer, and your bios and jumper settings are correct

You guys are right!! I have a 1 gig ( CRUSHED the 1.4) my third one I have crushed out of the last dozen by the way, I am real bad at applying the heatsinks, and I let the bios default at 100 fsb x 10 for a 1 gig. I will try your change. thanks!!

sounds like your heatsink is really hard it wouldnt be a golden orb or any type of orb would it?

I almost broke the socket off a KT7A with one of those luckily i didnt :) but anyway u should think about an SVC golden gate from svcompucycle.com it has a great clip and is an all copper cooler comparable to the thermalright sk6

I have applied many heatsink to Athlons! I don't see why people crush them. I heard it was because people are trying to use socket 370 fans on them.

No, I use a big Swiftech cooler with a black delta 7200 rpm fan on it ( I live in Death Valley, very , very hot out here) and it works better than any I have used and I have used a lot!!

I tried what you guys said and two things happened. It did show 2100 in the boot up screen but since it is only a one gig T bird, it ocked it to 1.33, way to high, and it would not let me change anything except to 100, or 133. How do I get it back up to 133 so my DDR is running at 2100 without running the processor up so high? I am sure it will not take that much of an overclock although I did not let it finish the boot. Ideas? Thanks!! By the way, I have it set ( the A7M266 Asus to "jumperless" mode.

Looks like I have to reset the "jumperless" mode and set it to 133x7.3 on the motherboard in order to run at 133 fsb and still keep the cpu down to 1 gig. I will give it a try. Thanks for the input guys.
