DDR or SDRAM

Hi,

I am debating if to buy a DDRAM system or SDRAM. I noticed that the motherboards that work with DDRAM offer up to 512 MB. wouldn't it be better to use SDRAM and be able to upgrade up to 2GB ?

is there any huge performance gain in DDRAM ?

YES!!! You don't want to get sdram if you want top of the line performance! Only get sdram if you are getting a basic computer for office use.
 
Hey,

Firstly, once you go over 512MB, your overall system speed in normal apps actually becomes slightly slower, as your system has to access all this memory that it's not using.

Secondly, it would be silly not to go for a DDR-based solution now. Both the motherboards and the RAM have come down in leaps and bounds. Actually, it was probably the major mistake I made on my system a few months ago (not going DDR) so I hate people making the same mistake.

go ddr. not only will the motherboard you buy be useful for longer than an sdr mobo, but ddr and sdr ram cost almost exactly the same now.
