DDR or GDDR3 for an ATI x800 Pro

Is there any difference between the two? I found a card that uses GDDR3 from a vendor and then the same model with DDR. The GDDR3 was cheaper though. Does the GDDR3 overclock better or just run cooler and is new tech? Any reason to get it over DDR?
