MSI...? does MSI make DDR mobos?

and is there sopposively another ASUS DDR mobo coming out soon? If yes then is it smart to wait for that board?

Hell yea you bet they do. The K7 Master is one of the best DDR boards.
 
Asus A7M266 is a very good motherboard. FIC AD11 is a good motherboard with multiplier settings. I have a MSI K7 Master due next week and from all reports this is a very good motherboard. Epox has just released their 760 board which looks to be a very good board spec wise. Along with boards from Gigabyte, Aopen, DFI, and Biostar all of the above boards are based on the AMD 760 chipset.
You have several choices from Soyo, Iwill, Asus, and others for ALI based DDR boards. The performance of these boards are good and stability has proven to be very good.
The VIA KT266 DDR chipset is going through growing pains currently but all board suppliers will eventually be offering products based on this chipset.

A7M or A7A?
 
According to various reviews all over the Web, the AMD 760 chipset still reigns supreme as the best performing DDR platform as of right now and the A7M is based on the said chipset.
 
The Asus A7A is ALI's cheap chip(set) shot. It gets stuck in the bunker so to speak(i.e. no good, shokin' latency I believe). The A7M is the AMD 760 chipset, the best choice at this point in time.
 
I like my ka266 Iwill, it has been a very good board. I havent used any of the others though so I cant speak for them.
I have a 1 gig @ 1.466 and its temp is around 116F after playing CS for a couple hours.
 
another 'aye' for the MSI K7Master.

The a7m266 is good, but for $20 less (see anand's pricing guide) you can get the MSI mobo with SCSI (if I am not mistaken) and multiplier settings.

Epox makes one, Gigabyte has a good one, and MSI has a good one.

I don't recommend the ASUS, from the reviews it seems hard to get running properly. and it doesn't have multipliers.

No, all DDR motherboards should have no problem supporting up to Tbirt 1.5GHz. Dont trust everything a web page says, they didnt update it when the 1.33GHz came out, so dont take them so seriously.
 
How many people here who are recomending the MSI board actually have the board? I personally own the Asus A7M266 and have setup systems with the FIC AD11, Iwill KA266-R, and the Asus A7A. I have used a system with the MSI K7 Master-S and still found my Asus A7M266 to offer better performance and stability. A subjective opinion only but at least with the value of experience. If you require multiplier settings then the MSI and FIC are your choice currently among released AMD 760 boards. You can save even more money and get the FIC and not be disappointed either. That said I will be receiving a MSI K7 Master-S in about a week. I bought it for the on-board SCSI for a home net box.
