DDR laptop memory

hi, my laptop memory (I assume) recently died, and I was going to order new memory from newegg. Prices range from $33 (G.Skill) to $55.50 (Kingston) for a single stick of 1GB DDR 333 including shipping. Both have 5 stars with approx 100 reviews each, and they seem identical according to the stats on Newegg's website.

My question is, do either of these have a reputation for good longetivity? The ram in my laptop lasted a good 6 years and it would be nice if the replacement ram lasted 6 years too (although obviously you can never tell 100%).

I'm just wondering why the Kingston is almost double the price for virtually identical memory.
 
6 years is longer then most RAM generally last. So i'm guessing the laptop didn't get an excesive amount of use. But the average life of the RAM is about 4 or 5 years and most any brand will give you that. Considering its a 6 year old laptop i'd just throw in the cheapest RAM you can find. I sure hope your not still using that laptop after another 6 years.
 
Actually its been used extensively the past 6 years. The last year not -so- much used, but it has been on for several months at a time as my downloading machine, connected to a NAS. And why not use it for another 6 years?
