ddr cpus

im pretty sure this is a stupid question, but does anyone know why there aren't ddr cpus? if you can take 133mhz memory and fsbs and get 266 out of it, why not take a 1.5ghz cpu and get 3ghz out of it?

im guessing it's either something like a complete redesign of the x86 architecture, or else im just stupid and have no idea how ddr works 😛 (betting on the latter. heh)

The integer units in P4 CPUs are DDR already.... well, at least two of the three ALUs in the Northwood/Wilamette are DDR. IE, in a P4 2.2, two ALUs are running at 4.4ghz.

ya and the p4's fsb is qdr isnt it? thats still not a ddr main clock though..

that'd be great especially for amd.. least until the 8ghz p4's start coming out hehe

P4's Integer Section: DDR
P4's Bus: QDR (Double DDR)
Athlon's Bus: DDR

So yes, it's being done, but it's not really 'easy' to do, so that's why we aren't seeing it being done everywhere 😉.
