DDR and SDRAM

Are DDR and SDRAM compatible. I plan to buy a Motherboard that is listed to be used for DDR and I have
SDRAM and would like to know if I could use either on the new board.
Thanks

nope, not compatible. sdram is old school now, DDR has taken over

when DDR was new, there were some boards that could use both (kinda hybrid type things) but any new board today is DDR or bust

SDR SDRAM is 168 pin.

DDR SDRAM is 184 pin.

You cannot insert a DDR DIMM into an SDR slot, and vice versa.

You can purchase boards that have both SDR and DDR slots, such as the ECS K7S5A and the ASUS A7A266-E.
