What are the repurcussions of installing 2700 DDR into a motherboard that only officially supports up-to DDR 2100? My thinking is that if the 2100/2700 are simply theoretical bandwidth numbers, it shouldn't matter - the 2700 would just max at 2100 speed, but no negative effects would occur.
Anyone have input? I have the opportunity to buy some 2700 cheap from a friend, (512 DDR 2700 to add to my existing 512 DDR 2100) but want to make sure I won't end up with more headaches than it's worth. TIA.
