Basically my router seems to crap out several times per day and at this point it is getting really annoying but then of course we do have 5 wireless computers and 2 wired onto it at any time. Don't know if that makes a difference but everyone speaks well of the DD-WRT firmware so I wanna give it a try and see if it can go longer than a day without unplugging lol.

But I have no clue which one to get...according to the site my router needs the micro version and I find the page for it and there are 6 options?...anyone who can give me a hand with this?...also instructions on flashing would be helpful

Thanks

This is the list for your router:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2...FLinksys%2FWRT54GS_v6/

I would just load the generic
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2....v24_micro_generic.bin

Flashing is easy. Just log into your routers interface, and find the update firmware page. Download the bin to your system, and on the firmware page for router there will be a browse option to locate that file where you saved it. It will load, and reboot, and there you go.

Something you MAY want to keep in mind, the developers seem hesitant to recommend installing on your model. Apparently a lot of people have problems. You can read about it here if you have not done so yet:

Cool. Glad to hear it flashed ok. DD-WRT is so freaking cool once you start playing around with it.

You have wireless security enabled, correct? If so he shouldn't be able to get on the network without a password.

There is an Access Restrictions tab. You can enter mac addresses, ip ranges and such in there.
But if your neighbor is any smart he can change his MAC. Using wireless security is still the best bet.

Though, you may want to ask him about splitting the internet bill. :)
