So what piece of clothing will we be taking off next?

CNN says it was another attempted Shoe Bomber

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/04/07/disturbance-on-united-airlines-flight/?hpt=T1

Federal authorities say a disturbance aboard a United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., to Denver, Colorado, Wednesday night occurred when a passenger apparently tried to set a shoe on fire. Law enforcement officials met the plane on the ground in Denver and there were no reports of injuries.

"The situation is under control. The flight is on the ground," a federal law enforcement official said.

privacy mean anything to you?

Would you rather live or die? And who cares. You're going through a machine watched by someone you'll probably never see again. And if so, who cares?

And the real answer to your question, no. I'm not ashamed of my body.

wtf? Why are terrorists smart enough to get on board with bombs, but dumb enough to attempt to set them off in front of all the paranoid passengers who are starting at them the entire time thinking "omg, it's an Arab!" Why don't they use the bathroom?

fuck this "religion of peace" its getting too far at this point. what the fuck. we obviously cant secure ourselves when we have stupid liberals in power crying about an invasion of privacy when going on planes. fuck them, i bet 80% of the population would agree that a minor invasion of privacy to ride a plane is worth the risk.

Didn't they say it was a diplomat from Qatar having a smoke in the bathroom? Said he was being a wise ass to the air marshall...

"what were u doing in there?"

"lighting my shoes on fire."

that was my guess. The shitty thing is he will get away with it and simply be banned from the US. ANd probably eventually let back in.

Despite what the people say I think the full body scan machines are a must. I can't believe people are crying about it.

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Ben Franklin

apt quote.

oh and btw, while it might be too early to say, no explosives have been found (so far). appears the guy was just trying to light his shoe on fire....which is idiotic.

Do you even know what you're talking about, seriously? Have you seen images from the scanners? They go clothing deep ONLY.

The scanners people are referring to are the ones that are based on CT scanners. CT scanners see things based on an objects ability to block the X-ray/Röntgen beam. Clearly, plastic explosive have a unique signature.

On 9/11, that was what would have happened to the plane that crashed in Penn has it made it to DC.

Interestingly, when those fighters were dispatched, they were granted permission to break the sound barrier and did. I think they did mach 1.1 on their way to NYC.

"A law enforcement official told the Associated Press, the incident appears to have been a misunderstanding after the man was confronted trying to sneak a smoke in the bathroom."

Interesting. So, this was a test to see how many security members are on a plane and how they react. Overtake the air marshall and you take over the plane.

When they started flying planes into buildings they turned every passenger on the plane into an air marshal. Sure, we don't have guns, but now that we know they're going to fly the plane into a building we have nothing to lose. A few years ago I had an aisle seat in row 1, and if anyone tried to get to the cockpit I was prepared to punch them in the groin.

They aren't even effective:

This is a huge problem with the world today, knee jerk reactions by people with zero real knowledge about the issue they are forming opinions about. All these machines do is create the illusion of better security to half-wits. As soon as someone smuggles explosives onto a plane up their ass, (which no, these scanners cannot detect) I suppose you will happily submit yourself to a full cavity search every time you board a plane?

so by that reasoning we should just abandon all security all together then eh?

Disputes that they actually abused the actors screening

Second link clearly states that only scanners in test mode operated by someone with superuser admin status can save export or print scans.

BTW the scanners are able to identify breast implants, medical devices, and other foreign objects in a human

So you'd just have everyone walk up to the gate and board like it was the 1970s? Genius...

Weee!! Let's just throw some money around. Wasting money's sure to get those filthy terrorists. We just have to spend enough of it.
