DC Metro drivers and snow ...

All the news website and TV stations carried the big news today. The DC Metro area rush hour was brought to a standstill by a whopping TWO INCHES of snow. I left work a little early at 4:30, only to spend an hour on the roads and never leave Reston (I live in Oakton, a solid 15-minute commute weather-permitting). I actually went back to work for two hours and got some stuff done. By the time I left, most of the "OH-MY-GAWD--IT'S-A-SNOWFLAKE--I-GOTTA-DRIVE-2MPH-NOW!" drivers were gone. Took my usual 15 minutes.

I left Mclean at 2:45 and got home to Woodbridge at 3:30. Got on the HOV lanes by the Pentagon and got off Before 3:30.
😉

I work in Falls Church and live in Oakton. I took 495 to 66 and it wasn't too bad cept for the usual slow down around the Nutley St. exit. This was around 7pm though. What a joke though, I heard school kids got out around lunch time....unbelievable.

Public transportation is the answer. I left my car in a underground parking garage and paid $1.60 for my 14 mile trip home. Kind of a bargain when compared to the $500 insurance deductible that I'd have to pay if I wrecked my car. Although the bus was a little late, the rest of the commute was about right on time.

Yesterday was the sole time I regret my counter-commute from Reston to Oakton.

Another storms a-comin' (or so I've heard).
