DC man orders TV, gets assault rifle instead

http://www.boston.com/business/tech...fle-instead/8JAZWack6f9hpP7EUbE8dM/story.html

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Washington musician who ordered a flat-screen TV from Amazon.com was shocked to receive a semiautomatic assault rifle instead.

Thirty-eight-year-old Seth Horvitz says he purchased the 39-inch television from a third-party seller. A box arrived from UPS on Tuesday evening, and it seemed too small to contain the TV. He says he initially thought it contained accessories.

But when he opened it, he found a Sig Sauer military-style rifle. He says he had never held a gun before he felt the trigger of the rifle.

An invoice showed that the gun was intended for delivery to a firearms dealer in Duncansville, Pa. Horvitz called police, who took the gun and are investigating how the mistaken shipment occurred. Amazon.com Inc. and United Parcel Service Inc. had no immediate comment."

WTF lol??

At least this article is accurate. I can't count the number of times I heard this on the news already with them all saying Amazon Amazon Amazon when it isn't even Amazon who shipped the item since it is a 3rd party seller.

But... WTF lol how does this happen.

That's not an assault rifle, it's semi-automatic. It's just a rifle.

LOL, dumb ass has never laid a hand on a gun and what's the first thing he grabs for? The trigger.

Obviously this is one of those "loop holes" I've heard so much about. Criminals are intercepting guns everyday, the NRA just has a block on the media and you never hear about it. /sarcasm

Although honestly I'm surprised the DC cops didn't arrest him on the spot. They've arrested many others for less.

must be the obama's latest Fast/Furious gun scam.

HAHA, oh you.

Why didnt this guy keep the gun? An unregistered assault rifle that noone knows you have will come in handy when obama repeals the second amendment and takes away everyones guns.

They would have figured it out. They scan deliveries and it would be easy to track where the gun was delivered, especially if he signed for it.

Unless you have a fire arms license, can you get a gun, to use an old term, "mail order"? I thought after the JFK assassination legislation was passed that banned that.

Has to be shipped to a Federal Firearm License (FFL) holder. Basically somebody authorized to deal/sell/transport firearms.

Unless you already own the gun and were just having it repaired or serviced, then it can be shipped directly to you. Also, if you get a C&R, you can have C&R guns shipped directly to you.

Both sales were probably third party entities that Amazon contracted through. The sale would go through Amazon, and they would get the info to the sellers, the mistake has to be on Amazon's end.

In the article it says the label from the TV fell and attached to the rifle package. Nobodies "fault".

Obviously he misunderstood the seller. It isn't a TV, it's a DIY TV kit. 'Cause once you've got an assault rifle you can get as many TVs as you want.

Well, maybe not if you're wearing Capri pants and nail polish . . .

LMAO Atreus, thanks!
