Sorry, but I don't sympathize with the car thieves at all. If our justice system actually put more of these thieves away, like they're supposed to, I doubt that most people would get to the point that they're so fed up with it, they'll protect their property with a gun.

The article made it sound like that neighborhood had suffered quite a few robberies lately.... I'll bet the people in that neighborhood feel that the police don't offer them enough protection... not enough patrols... If they feel the law isn't taking care of the problems... they have to take the law into their own hands..

ok so the guy is a felon, and he did his time... whether you agree or not, he DID do his time, and that's what our law calls for, and that's it. he shouldn't be tried any differently than this just because he's a felon should he?

the gun was registered to a person he lives with right? what's wrong with "borrowing it"

think of it this way... your "car theft pager" goes off, so you snag the gun as a "just in case"

you go outside, see 4 people screwing with YOUR car, 2 of which are INSIDE IT, and you feel threatened

what are you going to do? say "hey you kids, your fun is over, come on now, get out of my car and go home and get a good sleep"

i swear, some people on this board have no idea what it is like to live in a bad part of town... luck you!

If thieves thought that they might be killed, maybe there'd be fewer crimes.
Oh, the irony.

Sorry, but this guy is in deep doo-doo, as he should be.

And WTF does this have to do with D.C.?

It has less to do with DC's ban on handguns than Goose's lack of reading comprehension.

Goose, the fact that DC has a ban on handguns is irrelevant here. NO convicted felon has a right to keep and bear arms. They gave up that right when they feloniously violated the rights of others.

I must have missed that reading of the second amendment. Guy paid his debt for his crimes, why should'nt he be allowed to bear? Also, I would think most prior felons live around other felons when they get out and need the protection more than anyone. JMO.:)

I'd sentence him to seventy-five years in prison but suspended all but 90 days of the term...
