FBI Raid Appointee Office

The post is vague, as are the responses from the CTO office, but it does state that this is some kind of ongoing investigation.

Does anyone have any other information about this?

Update

"Office of the Chief Technology Officer employee and contractor have been arrested in a federal bribery sting, sources tell WTOP.
D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer employee Yusuf Acar and Advanced Integrated Technologies Corporation President and CEO Sushil Bansal have been arrested, sources tell WTOP."

---------------------------------
Title changed to remove innuendo
On March 5, President Barack Obama named D.C. Chief Technology Officer Vivek Kundra as the federal government's chief information officer.

Kundra's last day was March 4.

Kundra, who was in charge of technology in the District since 2007, has been a consultant to Obama since he won the election.

Kundra has not been linked to Thursday's raid.

This is from the washington post about who was arrested.

Acar, who began working for the city in Nov. 2004, earns $127,468. He is listed as having purchased a house in Northwest Washington for $1.4 million in 2006.

Sure after he loses his job we the taxpayers will bail him out.

easily affordable with a subprime, interest only, 40 year, 80/20/0 loan with a 15 year balloon of 1.35M.

Kundra (the appointee) is not the target of the investigation.
Yucar Acar is.

I wonder if some of this is just hold over mischief done by GWB appointees still at the Justice Department. If they pulled this stunt while GWB was in office, everyone would be screaming political harassment by the GOP, but because the new AG is still in the staffing process, those GOP leaning about to become ex justice department officials have a license to claim on going investigation as they run rough shod over anyone even tangentially involved. Raids that amount to fishing expeditions and may involve false witness.

Of course this is your opinion, who would expect otherwise from you?

why the mis-information in the title--- Obama`s appontee has nothing to do with these 2 people..
Why couldn`t you make the title -- Office of the Chief Technology Officer employee and contractor have been arrested in a federal bribery sting???

Not at all, but based upon the 'heapage' at P&N it's getting pretty old.

And btw - the little woman makes 4x what I make in salary so it's a little misleading for you to say ""...seems a bit much house for $127K..."" when talking about the crook who was arrested (and not part of the Obama Administration). Assuming, of course, he has a wife.

And, of course, when he goes to prison he may be The Little Woman

Don't confuse assumptions with facts. We don't know at this time who all of the targets of the investigation are, we only know who has been arrested.

It has been about 6 good long years of the same from the other side. If you think it is getting old 2 months into this roller coaster I suggest going to OT right now to save yourself 😀

Obama suspends his new CTO:

WASHINGTON (AP) - An aide to President Barack Obama is on leave from his White House job after the FBI raided his old District of Columbia government office Thursday, arresting a city employee and a technology consultant on corruption charges, a White House official said.

The charges were lodged against the two men at a federal court hearing as the FBI finished searching the city's technology office, which was led until recently by Obama's new computer chief, Vivek Kundra.

Kundra is on leave from his White House job until further details of the case become known, according to a White House official speaking on condition of anonymity because the official did not want to publicly discuss personnel matters.

At the court hearing, Yusuf Acar, the acting chief security officer in the city's technology office, was ordered held without bond pending a hearing Tuesday. Prosecutors said $70,000 in cash was found during a search of Acar's Washington home and that he posed a serious flight risk.

True, and you can bet the two arrested will sing like birds to make deals which would include implicating Kundra if he had anything to do with it including just knowing and looking the other way.

I think Kundra will quietly step down for 'personal reasons' . I don't see how you can have someone like that working for you and not know something is going on.
A criminal complaint against 40-year-old Yusuf Acar accuses him of one count each of conspiracy to commit bribery, money laundering, wire fraud, and conflict of interest.

Those are some serious charges.
