How sketched out are you ?

I'm a little nervous getting gas .. went tonite after putting it off as long as I could and there was no one at the pumps.

I saw today that the one gas station that had a fatal shooting here opened back up.

I feel real sorry for them..

I heard the hotels next door to there went down in occupancy like 2/3

A lot of people canceled reservations at the hotel I work at, but it's at a different exit.

There is an old naval tactic. Wherever the last shell landed is where you head for. The theory is that two shells will never land in the same place twice.

I don't know what this has to do with your problem, but it came to mind.

I was thinking the same thing.

That's how I feel too. The last 3 shootings have been really close to me. The last one is right next to my office. I feel a bit safer going to these spots cuz I figure he'll go to a new spot.

I figure he needs to get his butt kicked.... and yes, I would go to a place where someone had already been shot.... seems safer. I hear lightening doesn't strike twice in the same spot either..... -TAL

What will happen to the sniper when he/she is found?(probably a male) Is the death penalty in any of these states and what about crossing state lines, etc.

Using the same logic I am thinking is probably hella cheap to go to Bali in the next 2 months. I also think is unlikely they will bomb the same place twice..

I figure they aren't going to get him alive. He'll either shoot himself, or the cops will.

It is very unfortunate for those who have lost their lives. However, my life is going on as normal. None of the patterns that my wife, my daughter and myself follow in our lives have been modified by ourselves. However, our daughter has lost her lunch-time recess because the schools are currently in a lock-down. The chances of something happening are roughly 1 in 4 million. Don't get me wrong, I live 7 miles from one of the shootings and used to work about 4 miles from another - so, I do think about what has happened. But, the news media (as usual) has created quite a mess with their coverage regarding the incidents.

That's right. Somehow, I don't think this individual is concerned whether he/she could be given the death penalty - if caught.

This sniper has proven time and time again that he will do anything to prove a point. Several people in the media have agreed with the lightning only strikes twice theory. These same people said the sniper was not a good marksman because he was taking body shots(now has started taking head shots). They also said he only struck those alone(look at last night).

I wouldn't be suprised to see him strike a location he has hit in the pass. This sniper is getting off on all the "power' he has right now.

Pretty much the same thing here. My wife works in a local elementary school and comes home with nightly tales of some of the stuff the staff there has to endure from a few irrational parents that call the school almost non stop. I won't even get started on a rant about the local news media and their ridiculous coverage of these tragedies. I am not surprised given how they react to a simple snow storm though.:disgust: I had a few wonderful years where I could watch network television on my DirecTV and never see a Washington station but those days are sadly gone thanks to CBS and the NAB.

I have a lot of teachers in my Cultural Geography class.. guess they have to take it every few years or somehting.

Anyways, they tell us about those crazy parents, too.

I've had to deal with several freaked out people at work, asking me 50 questions like I'm part of the investigation or something.
Of course, I don't know any more than they do... and then people canceling their reservations or checking out early
and complaining about how it's not safe...like it's my fault.

But had a weird incident the other night.. cops found a van in the parking lot that they thought was maybe linked..
A bunch of them showed up, and I had to figure out which room the owner had, and they went in and questioned him...
But it wasn't anything. The guy was probably scared as hell.

Other than that, my life hasn't really been affected.. Yeah, I was a little nervous getting gas cause that the only time you're just standing there
thinking about what could happen. I pass the two attack locations here daily, so its always in the back of my mind a little.

A friend of mine was getting gas at the gas station next to the sonoco in Manassas (the sonoco is still closed I think and the other gas stations in the area are losing a lot of money so we figure we should help them out a bit :(). He thought about it and started swaying back and forth thinking that might make him a harder target to hit :p

I've seen a few people doing that, and ducking down behind the the side of the car, too.

I have read that some folks are wearing bullet-proof jackets. I think someone posted it on ATOT.

No, hasn't changed my life a bit. Although I am on 'high alert' (as Tom Ridge would say)

Ditto here. No changes to routine, but it's a little spooky. I live in Gaithersburg and usually wind up working in Fairfax, btw.
