What happened? Nothing! No assault. No pulling to the ground. Not a fucking thing happened. Hence why he won't be charged. The whole thing was a sham. And you guys were played by the feminist dog whistle of "white knight rides to the rescue"

Lol, what fucking fools.

Oh boy... so you have trouble with reading comprehension. I suppose that's not a surprise.

The confirmation bias is strong with this one.

Yeah good luck on that.

You know as well as we all do that she was right.

With all due respect, and I'm not fan of Trump... it really does seem like she was wrong, over reacted, cried wolf, and the prosecutor recognized it.

If you can't handle being yanked away from a presidential candidate when you were already told to gtfo of the way, then you should not be doing the job.

My take away? this chick should have known better.

How can you be so callous when this poor woman lost her arm?

Well . . . As good as lost it. Anything that horribly mangled is never again going to be useful.

I would have been ok if they decided not to charge, but the comments the prosecutor gave made it seem like it was a political decision instead and I think will further drive the story.

““We are not charging him because he was reacting to what he perceived as a potential threat to someone he is in charge of,”said Adrienne Ellis, a deputy to Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg.

Ellis said that Fields told her she did not touch Trump. The deputy added that when the incident occurred, Fields was in a scrum in a protective area she was instructed not to be in.

NBC’s Katy Tur, who covers the Trump campaign, said it was common for reporters to go right up to Trump following an event on his property.

“There’s an area where they put the press, but when Donald Trump leaves the stage or walks around and it’s in one of his properties, we are free to walk right up to the candidate,” Tur said on MSNBC. “The Secret Service usually is surrounding him, but there have been a number of situations where you’re told one thing but you’re a reporter so you go up and you’re trying to get a comment.”

“There have been a number of circumstances where members of the press, including myself, have walked right up to Mr. Trump in that scrum and stood next to him for quite a while and asked questions as they’ve been walking along,” she continued.

Aronberg and Ellis also revealed Trump had personally called them to give his version of events and urged them to “do the right thing.” They said that neither Trump’s call, nor politics, had factored into their decision.

Does anyone here really believe Lewandowski thought she was a physical threat to Trump (well not her questions)?

How did she over react? All she asked for was an apology. Then Trump's campaign called her a liar and they dared her repeatedly to file charges, saying she was a liar because she didn't.

This is 100% on Trump. He was too stupid and too immature to handle it correctly.

Innocent into proven guilty. You guys should be glad that they did not just jail someone on a whim.

So we should be celebrating not complaining. No one wants to live in a country where you can go to jail on the weakest of accusations.

Umm.. No. She didn't just ask for an apology. That demand by her came well after she lied about the 'severity' of the event.

You can't start out with a hyperbolic accusation and reasonably expect to receive an apology upon demand.

No it didn't, that's what she wanted from the start. Her description of the event turned out to be by far the most accurate of anyone involved as well, by the way. Did you forget that Trump and his campaign manager immediately reacted to the event with a series of blatant lies and an attempt at character assassination?

In case you've forgotten I would check out the timeline. It's pretty amusing watching them flail from lie to lie trying to find one that will work. Oddly enough just owning up to the truth never seemed to occur to them.

I didn't think this was a case worthy of an assault charge from the beginning. I, however, also don't get some weird boner from calling her an attention whore like some of the people in this thread. She over reacted and got caught up in her own story then tried to save face by just asking for an apology. Pretty basic psychology here.

I have to say I really don't think it merited an assault charge either but I don't see how that's anyone fault but Trump's campaign. Whether or not you think she over reacted by mentioning it to begin with Trump's response was to immediately call her a liar. As a reporter that's a pretty direct threat to your livelihood. By making it about her honesty when she had the facts on her side he basically made it impossible for her to back down. Then they started saying that if she wasn't lying she would file a police report. They basically dared her to do it and said her lack of a report showed she was lying.

I mean really, what would you do? Say it's done and the info is already out there. You have people calling you an attention whore, a liar, that you are doing your job unethically, etc. All when you KNOW what you said was right. Would you back down? I wouldn't.

This is one of the things that shows how bad a president Trump would be. Because he gets obsessed with minor sights he turned a 10 second news item into a major PR catastrophe.

I believe I mentioned earlier in the thread that all parties have egg on their face. I don't think Trump's reaction was that of a presidential candidate and, by watching the video, didn't think there was grounds for an assault charge. It was interesting to see this divide down partisan lines when there was a middle option, neither handled it well.

Exactly my take on her position. I, however, probably never would have considered the arm pull anything worthy of complaint. I likely would have been bummed to not get my Trump quote, but it wouldn't have bothered me enough to make a public complaint. Like I said and you seem to agree, I think her hand was forced to try to save face.

100% agree.

Except as more and more comes out about this the worse fields looks. Apparently Lewandowski reached out to her multiple times, even showing police his phone records, and she refused to call him back. Up to that point he didn't know who she was and didn't understand why she was accusing him of almost pulling her down since he didn't do that.

That the secret service clearly ordered her to leave the area and she still persisted on getting through the bubble shows that she had other intentions.

I disagree that Trump or Lewandowski should have apologized. For what? For an event that was clearly set up? To somebody who practically broke the law?

And this is part of the problem. You guys are more than willing to destroy an innocent man than seek the truth. Guilty until proven innocent.

What trump showed is that his guy, whom he picked, had good decision making skills and trump stood by his guy. He didn't do a Potomac two step and fuck him over. He didn't get blackmailed or held hostage, he steamrolled right through fields and was exonerated. What that shows me is that he knows his people, will support them, and won't back down. What it now shows the press and his adversaries is thst he isnt a simpering politician.
