DayZ Standalone

I've played arma2 dayz mod for a few years. Slowly but surely, my favorite servers are shutting down.

I love servers that have loot everywhere, or loot that's not hard to find at least. I tried googling the server list for DayZ SA but not much help. Are there lots of servers that have easy loot or better yet, have the option to pick your spawn and/or spawn with a weapon?

Or are all DayZ SA servers pretty basic/stock?

There are high loot & fast spawning loot servers, though exactly how much/how fast I'm not too sure.

The standalone is still very much a work in progress - you might want to go look at what is and is not in it before you buy it. They did recently add animals and cooking, but the animals are quite hard to find. Zombies are still pretty glitchy. There's a fairly limited number of weapons/gear.

Also, no vehicles.

Gonna have to wait until we can start modding standalone to get any kind of custom loot tables. Who knows when that will be. I've gone back to Arma 2 Epoch & Overwatch for the time being.

Got DayZ Standalone when it launch and so far have about 9 hours into it according to steam, I don't like it and stay with Overpoch. Still way to buggy and has such little content compared to the mod and the zombies are just as bad. Nothing is really any different on the standalone but just has less of everything, I feel like they might have just taken my money and cba to work on it anymore.

Let me ask again.. is it harder to find decent weapons(m4, etc) in DayZ SA?

I don't mind no vehicles(although that sucks) but I just have 0 desire to talk around for hours with a crowbar, etc. I don't mind picking this game up if there are servers that have places to get nice weapons aside from going to NEAF/NWAF.

Can any one advise? :beer;

I havent played standalone yet, but there are no custom servers (private hives) out yet, so you only have the amount of loot that the devs decide.

What is that amount? All over the place. Sometimes they patch it and it gets rid of all the guns or all ammo. Oops. Another patch to correct that. Oh, now people can dupe guns so there are too many guns. Patch that. Oops we broke water.

Yeah m4s are hard to come by because they only appear at crash sites now that spawn randomly.

AKs and other weapons are readily available at military sites, fire stations, and air fields.

I pretty much gave up on DayZ standalone & the DayZ mod in general as other mods have come out which offer more enjoyable gameplay. Mods for arma 3 like Breaking Point and Epoch.

DayZ standalone is crap! Good move.

Have you tried the Arma 3 Jurassic park mod?

Lots of potential here.

looks great!

i do play breaking point, albeit it's populated with ass hole e-thugs it's definitely a fun game but most times is a walking sim. i've been getting back into wasteland, just wish i had a few buddies to group up with weekly instead of people i don't know.

any takers?

Whats the difference in the two, are the servers populated with Kill on site players? That was my biggest issue with the standalone, walk for 30 minutes pick up an empty gun and then get shot.

Do NOT waste your money on the standalone. Just don't.

The standalone is SERIOUSLY broken and doesn't even contain all the features of the original mod.

Right now all of DayZ SA servers are linked to a public hive so customization isn't really possible as far as I know. However they plan to release private hive servers soon which would allow a lot more freedom to admins. The game as some have mentioned is basically still in Alpha so don't buy it if you aren't ready to deal with the issues that usually come up in Alpha gameplay. I still think it's a fun game though and compared to the bagginess and clunky features of Arma 2 DayZ you might even find it an improvement. You should also check out the new DayZ mods for Arma 3. Also take a look at my review of the game if you like 😀 http://www.gamingrants.net/dayz-review/

Stop being retarded. It's an ALPHA. It's unfinished. Why is it so difficult to understand?

You have no idea who Rocket even is, let alone what he's guilty of, do you. Do you know the story behind the standalone and why it really hasn't changed in the, what, 2 years that it's been out? 1.5 years?

Remember the patch that was promised 30 days after Rocket stepped down? Remember how it's still never come? Remember how they basically took the money from the alpha sale and said F-it and didn't bother continuing to work on the game that they promised?

No, I don't give a sh*t who he is and what drama the community around the mod enjoyed.
The SA is completely different game than the mod.
It also hasn't been out one day, it's still under development in such stage that normally isn't shown to people at all. It's also taking absolutely usual time.
You agreed for a paid alpha test so stop bitching and get a grip. Nothing is set in stone and features are still being developed. Things can and do change on daily basis and that's again something you agreed to, and probably agree everytime you click on that button when the game starts.
You might read the changelogs if you believe it hasn't changed in less than one year the early access has been out.

I should stop watching these threads because there's only so much stupidity I can take.

Troll?

The Alpha was released December 16th 2013, less than a year ago.

Rocket did not step down, he announced he was hoping to step away when the game hit Beta at the end of this year.

They bought up another studio and greatly increased their dev team with the money from the Alpha. With those new resources they have completely changed/rebuilt the game engine from where it started.

Listen, I don't know many people who are happy with the visible progress of the Alpha, myself included. But you are incorrect on every point.

Nope, I'm not.

Rocket announced that he was stepping down out of a position of leadership. Google it if you think otherwise.

bought up another studio and dev team and changed engine and blah blah pointless blah

The game is still hopelessly broken. There's been NO real progress in a YEAR. They're still wasting time on adding new color versions of shirts instead of fixing the F'ing problems the game has. It's still a joke and I'm still pissed that Steam wouldn't give me my money back.

You're a joke, not the game. How can someone be this dumb and unable to read is beyond what I can comprehend.

You said the game was out 2 years, it's been less than one.
You respond with "blah blah pointless" when you're wrong about what they've done with the money and development.

Try again...

"Dean Hall intends to leave developer Bohemia and step down as leader of his hit video game DayZ by the end of the year ... I'll always be involved with it; there's no way to escape it."

Octopuss is right, it isn't worth arguing at this point.

Anyway, I do agree that the game is broken in its current state. But it is an Alpha, they've explicitly said there are some things they can't/won't fix until Beta, because the architecture is still a moving target.
