Dayum, Canada is certainly pretty insulated from this election.

I got to cbc.ca there is a single link on the front page, but you do have to look for it. At canada.com right now I see NOTHING. Even if I go to telegraph.co.uk (big paper in England) I see, as expected, its main story election news.

I'm not saying the US is the center of the universe, but I'd expect more attention from Canada's neighbor and its biggest trading partner.

Canadians, do you compatriots seem to care about this? Considering the biting vitriol and strife and anger and hate (deserved, of course) that Canada has had for the current administration, I'm surprised they're not at least somewhat salivating over the ousting of the Republicans.

browse cbc.ca, click news and the 3rd 'top headline' is "Obama, McCain make last campaign sweep before election day"

Maybe not on the Internet, but it always is one of the major topics discussed in the daily TV news broadcast (CBC, SRC (which is the french equivalent), CTV, etc.). We are a bit tired of the US campaign. There is no surprise. Obama will easily win. We just don't care. McCain or Obama, it doesn't change a lot for us, although we'd like Obama to be elected.

As you said, the USA is no more the center of the Universe, so there is no point in us caring about their election.

Did the Americans care about OUR ELECTION? Did Palin know our PM's name? Did Palin know Quebec's PM's name? No. So, why should we care about your country's political scene if you Americans can't even locate Canada on a map or think that Canada is the 51st state...

Been on the news every night. Last night CBC had a story on how Palin was the face of Modern American Feminism. I just about changed the channel.

I doubt a lot of people care about yours. Deep down, everybody knows Obama's election won't eradicate racism and extremism and conservatism in the USA. Obama's election represent a band-aid whose mission is to cover a wound as big as the Mariana Trench.

Not really. It received all but no covereage whatsoever, although the president certainly impacts Canada more than Canada's PM impacts the US, i think.

You've a strong will not to have slit your wrists if they really said that.

Many of the people in the Story said that. The Reporter was kinda neutral about it.

A lot of Canadians DO care about US politics, at least compared to the other way around, but this is because the US is much larger and influences a great deal more, so it makes sense. I was just surprised that the main papers weren't topping themselves with it. Hell, on canada.com it's about some guy who got drunk and went for a stroll with his kids in the winter and they died (asshole).

You are just lucky our politicians suck as much as yours. That's why. Europe's political scene is much more compelling than here (CAN, USA), IMO.

Your man is going to invade Canada now? Is this what Biden was talking about with the whole "6 months" thing?

No, I don't think Obama will invade Canada.
But there's another Bush and he's tan, rested and ready for 2016.

Canadian society developed from irrational loyalty to a monarch and support for the royal caste system. Elections are trivial to them. People cannot move up the caste system. They are where they are born. What the Queen ate for breakfast is what is important to them.

The world waits for them to enter even the 20th century when it comes to their political process.

The Queen finds you amusing. What else could explain your continued uninterupted tirades?

The saturday toronto star was pretty saturated with US election news. Most were written as though Obama had already won. Another went on about how it doesn't really matter who wins from our perspective. Another was about how Canadians are jealous that we don't have an Obama.
