I have the satelite speakers from this set up hooked up to my Logitech Z5500 set, and if the sub would sound anything like the them your in for a treat :)

Im looking to try out the sub as one last try as a component set up to find something that can give me that "Punch" as the Z5500 can give, but a slightly louder volume since my hearing is starting to go too, but so far I have gone through 2 receivers and a Infinity sub, with these Dayton sats, and they had no life at all vs the Z5500 set up.

But these Daytons hooked to my Z5500, sounded better then the Z560 speakers I been mentioning all Z5500 owners to change over to, it really fills the mid void, and everything just comes to life. But I still want to try that sub, 12 big old inches of ear filling, ooooo its got to hit the sweet spot with them all matching up

Isn't that counter productive?

That speaker/sub setup has all 4-5 star reviews, so sounds (pun intended, LOL) like a winner!

funboy6942, if you really want louder bass, have you considered building your own? Start with some huge power and a pair of these in a big ported box wired serial/parallel (to achieve 4 Ohm overall). [/deaf]

On the more affordable side, how about this $110 amp combined with some cheap $50 sub?

The point being... use a home theater amp so it runs off house current, but use a car subwoofer because those are usually made to be LOUD! Normal home audio subwoofers are probably trying to be too accurate.

might as well seal up a nice crate as the box...

Wonder how this setup would compare with my older JBL system.

4 JBL N24's and an N-center. Also a sony 10" sub. Not worried about the sub but would e nice to have better speakers.

No way would these cheap micro-sats beat your JBLs. You could get a pretty good sub for $200-$250 though.
