Greeting Posters:

Not sure this is the right the right sub-forum for this post.

My mother board decided to retire, thus I remodeled the rig. A new mama board, CPU, GPU,
and RAM. $660 bucks in new parts. The last installation was GPU. All went well, but the trip
to a theme park quickly turned into Nightmare on Elm Street.

It is my understanding dat a video card is basically a plug and play. This turned into a plug
and pain. Yes, without the latest driver, its functionality is reduced, but operational. As I fired up
the PC, it would simply do nothing, no boot, no BIOS. I moved the card to a PCIE-3 slot with the
same results. [NVIDIA - Gigabite Geforce RTX 3050 Windforce] [the card has no power plugs]

I repeated this process three times, with both the old and new GPU resulting in failure. Den I
noticed I had not plugged the two PCI-E power plugs into the old video card [NVIDIA RTX 560].
With power to the old card, the system booted and functioned normally !

Now I did a doltish thing and download the wong driver [570.XXX i386] which is not 64 bit. I was able to reach
the drive manager, which shows five or six new drivers, with the old driver ! [390.XXX] removed.
I went into the terminal again and checked LSPCI and LOSMOD/GREP NVIDIA and it indicated no
drivers present ! And when I restart the rig, with the old card, it to would not boot nor BIOS.
Of course, the old card was driverless. [Uber would not take my calls]]

The new video card only requires 70 watts to operate. So the question to the board, is the mama board
failing to provide enough power to the PCIE-4 slot or is the new GPU defective?

This has been quite a frustrating, but learning process and very time consuming, in the order of
some ten to twelve hours. I have never had a hardware issue this bad. Time for Hardware Hank?

I invite the sages of computer for their extended expertise. Thank you most kindly !

MO/BO - MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk; CPU - AMD Ryzen 5500; GPU - GIGABITE Geforce RTX 3050 Windforce;
RAM - G. Skill Trident Z NEO DDR-4 3200

I have the same 3050 in a ASRock B550 itx system and it works perfectly. It is unlikely a power delivery issue. I would start by removing the wall power plug, pulling the CMOS battery and letting the system sit for a few minutes. Discharge the caps by shorting the start pins on the board or pressing the power button on the case. Replace the battery and try again. Just to rule out any configuration issues/jankiness.

Also, did you try multiple display outputs on the card? Other than that, and given the time put in, I'd say you got a lemon and to return it. Mine was an open box from Best Buy which makes me wonder why it was returned. I presume it was too slow or the buyer did not realize they bought the cut down 6GB version. Anyways, good luck and please let us know what happens.

I should have mention that, In2Photos. :<:))oops: There are a
series of four light indicators and it was the three down.

"VGA - indicates GPU/ PCIE/ M.2 device is not detected
or fail."

DAPunisher, I will try your recommendation. Yes, I tried the other
HDMI port with no success.
I too purchased this GPU from Better Best Buy, for a buck eighty,
including permission to shop levy.

This is the fastest slot powered card I've ever had. If the few things left to troubleshoot don't workout return it and get the open box for $160.99. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/gig...ard-black/6615842/openbox?condition=excellent Those are tested before selling again. Bummer the price went up, but with the market the way it is I'm not surprised.

The condition was indeed excellent. It was like BNIB other than the couple of pieces of tape to reseal the box and bag.

DAPunisher, praise the Lord and you, it worked as directed.
Bias works and so does the booty ! I checked which driver
was working my rig and it is the Nouvera Vesa. Since I do
not OC nor play games, perhaps I should leave although it
is inferior to Nvidia drivers.
For some reason, the LED debugging lights come on and
go off and then stay off.

VGA - indicates GPU/ PCIE/ M.2 device is not detected
or fail

Boot - indicates the booting device is not detected or failed.
