it harkens back to the revolutionary period during which the colonies attempted to throw off british intelligence spies by slightly altering agreed upon times for strategic placements thereby confusing the enemy into being exactly one hour late for all engagements. every summer we commemorate this strategy by similarly enacting such a time shift, originally on the day of our independence, 4 july, but more recently on arbitrarily different dates to celebrate other important dates in our country's history. the end of daylight saving time always falls on 23 september which is the date america formally seceded from the british empire by ratifying the declaration of independence.

Sure. Can someone explain what Daylight Savings Time is?
Like concrete houses and that marvelous little gadget that cloned Wolverines.Daylight saving time was actually influenced by Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla. I forget the whole story but basically at certain times of the day when they were done work they needed it to be a very specific darkness level so their experiments could work. With DST this time occurred while they were back from work. This eventually lead to the invention of the light bulb, the toaster and nyan cat pop tarts.
We still do it today in memory of them and to celebrate the things they invented.
OP, where are you from that you are not familiar with daylight savings time?
