Actually, the railroads adopted their own standard time system in 1883.

It wasn't until 1918 that the government passed the Standard Time Act.

Stop interrupting my perfectly believable false facts.

The only reason is parents are worried about kids getting to or from school when it gets dark. The upside is now when we go golfing, we can be on the course till 7:30PM or so and still be able to play fine. One downside is depending on the time of day and direction of travel, is excessive sun glare. But overall I think we should just pick one or the other and stick with it.

This.
I don't care if its dark when I drive to work or cook breakfast but I like to actually do things past 5pm sometimes.

This. More stuff happens between 6-9pm than 3-6am. Screw the early birds and make DST year round.

Knowing what to do with your time is infinitely more important than knowing what time it is.

^^This.

Daylight Savings Time was invented during the Civil War by Union General McClellan. McClellan uses carrier pigeons extensively during the Pennisular Campaign to send orders to his far spread command. McClellan was as fond of sleeping in late as he was of strict adherance to schedule. The issue was that the carrier pigeons would roost down for the night before McClellan was finished issuing orders for the day. McClellan implemented Daylight Savings Time as a means of accomodating his schedule and that of his birds. Truth is stranger than fact.

It's Obama.

It's how he controls the roaming gangs of home invading teenagers. I'd explain it further, but, herp-a-derp minorities.

I'd like to see an end to DST and the continental US switch to a single time zone. So what if kids in DC go to school at 6 am and in Seattle at 9am, you can set your own schedules by local and the body clock goes off of what the sun schedule is where you are at, not based on a clock on the wall.

Is that a Union tank or Confederate tank?

o_O
It's definitely a Union tank. The Confederates didn't start using the .53 caliber machine gun until they captured the Union gun works at Gallipoli a full year after the Battle of Shiloh.

Yet well after Sherman's March to the Somme.
