I got the game running finally without graphic errors i was having before. Lets hope it stays this way :D

Apparently windows would not care what I installed, and reinstalled windows update one everyday i reset after a install, so disabled windows update driver installing and all is good. The 290x series works perfect for this game now.

However I've yet to figure out why the installer will always "driver install failed" during it. It will install driver, just everything else fails. No big deal cause don't use 3d monitor/HDMI audio. But very odd to say the least.

Anyway back to killing and being killed. lol

Finally found a great stash...no weapons, but ammo, food, bandages, morphine, car parts, matches and fire wood.

Was planning on a nice late night campfire on top of a nice bill hill so I could see better......Zombies spoiled my well laid plan. :)

Under what circumstances do you come back with your stuff....just if you quit game, but do not die?

If you disconnect while alive you should be exactly where you were at with the same stuff you had before.
If you were injured then you should have the same amount of blood as when you logged out. I'm not sure how it handles if you were bleeding when you log out.

Is it possible to remap the controls to navigate the inventory menus without using a mouse wheel? Interested in the game but I don't use a mouse that has a scroll wheel.

Well, since patch 1.58.2, you can't use scrolling to select items in your inventory anymore (you must open your inventory and right-click on your items instead). However, for interactions that are outside of your inventory - such as opening doors - you still can use scrolling.

The scrolling buttons can be completely remapped though, so yes. Like you, my mouse doesn't have a scrollwheel either (I use a trackball), so I have scroll up/down mapped to the extra G-keys on my Logitech G105 keyboard. It works nicely.

Also if you set up a tent, or store something on the ground, it only stays on THAT server. Only thing that saves is stuff you have equipped across all servers.

Oh, and CrackRabbit, there's a couple links in the OP that are broken (the two under "For the newbs"). Both of them link to elunah.com, which appears to 404.

Thanks for updating the thread btw.

The forum software somehow thought everything was one link and did some strange stuff to it.
The links should work properly now.

Thanks for the information, I'll probably check it out now that I know I won't have issues playing it!

I'm considering checking this game out, but I am curious, what is the end goal? Obviously survival. If you die you restart... but does it keep track of how long you have survived? You don't level up or develop any skills, so what is the 'progression' of the game, so to speak? Is there anything worth working towards? Is there a leaderboard for oldest characters or anything like that?

You answered your own question there. :)

Well, generally you work toward getting better gear, bigger packs, more tools, and more powerful weapons.

I'm not insanely-good at the game by any means, but I've read some posts by people who've pretty much reached "max level" so to speak... they have the best weapons, as much ammo as they could ever need, and they get their hands on a helicopter which basically makes them able to travel wherever they want, extremely quickly.

At this point I guess you've pretty much mastered the game and it can become boring after that. But I think you have to invest a lot of time and be extremely good at it. I haven't even driven any cars yet, let alone stepped into a chopper.

IMO I think that's the only area they need to give some real thought to for this mod - how to give it longevity.

If I were Bohemia I would take this on as a full project based on the Arma 3 engine. They've already said that they will be looking to support the mod with future updates, but it could be excellent as a full game in its own right, and if done correctly, it could work very well as a F2P title.

is it just how shitty ARMA2 is or is there a way to make the mouse not feel like a console controller? I move the mouse right and stop and its like it keeps going. it's almost like its attached to a rubber band or something.

tried messing with mouse sensitvity and such but nothing seemed to help.

and seriously, is there any point in playing this game when it's night time?

just downloaded 1.58.4

For the love of all that is holy, disable mouse smoothing. It's set to 50% at default, and I have no idea why. Set that shit to 0.

I also suggest disabling Vsync, but that's just me.

Sneaking around major areas (Cherno and Elektro) and looting without being seen. I haven't done it myself, but I know some people who are excellent at ninja-ing around big cities in the dark.

Or, just do it for the challenge, and the whole survival aspect of it I guess.

Alright, here she is:

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/atdayz

That should be a good way to get everyone together (I assume most people here have Steam). For VoIP, we can use the group chatroom, which you can connect to and leave at anytime.

There isn't much to see, but eventually we can post information on times when we should play. If anyone is wants to be a group officer so they can post events, go ahead and let me know. My Steam username is Dankk (and my profile is linked to in my sig).

How the hell do I use stuff in my inventory now? Middle mouse button is no longer working. I'm so confused. I want to like this game/mod, but it's just not possible.

I spend 30 minutes just trying to get in a server only to have none of my buttons do anythign when I get in finally. I don't get it. I tried this mod like a week ago and just now finally have time again and it's like they took 30 steps back in terms of how it plays.
