I still feel bad for killing a guy that opened fire on me...

Depending on the loot at stake, it's either, stalk and kill them once they're away from Zombies, or just back out and live to fight another day.

I connect from CA with 90-100 MS Once again our server only stores character data on our internal database meaning you can play with friends or start a second characters here and not worry about your main, official character! The server is running 1.7.2 with patch 47000. Slots are currently 64 players but we will slowly increase after a few days of tweaking

For me the most sure fire weapon locations are in barns... there are usually 6+ spawn locations so getting something happens pretty frequently... lots of shotguns

Also, I've noticed if you log off in a barn/tree-stand, hop servers to try and loot another server, items will not be there until you leave the area and come back - just and FYI if that is what you're trying to do.

LOL, yeah I found quite a few weapons in deer stands by I accidentally destroyed my M4 trying to put it in my backpack the other day and the same thing pontifex is seeing has been a happening to me. I run my remote circuit trying to find an assault rifle and all I find is a magazine or a bandage and maybe a water bottle.

I might try out that new server. I setup a tent on US219 and then I could never find it in the list again. Plus starting out is pretty fun since even garbage equipment is a good find.

Someone else probably took the good loot and passed on. You can try picking up all the loot and dumping it a few feet away then coming back to the area a few minutes later and see what spawns.

I think the respawn on loot is something like 20 minutes?

i find that totally unbelievable. EVERY single one has been looted? If that is true, then the respawn time is way more than 20 minutes because i join low population servers and there's no way someone just looted all of these deer stands right before i got there.

I would be careful hoping for a steam sale on arma 2. I just don't see the most popular game of the summer from a stingy developer being sold for an amazing price. They know they have a gem. They are even running their own sale on it.

I wouldn't call Bohemia a "stingy developer". Arma II cost me $7 or $8 several months ago on sale, that's pretty damn cheap. And while they recognize the value of Day Z, I'm sure they definitely recognize the value of deep discounts as well.

I got Combined Ops for like $18 just as DayZ was coming out.... Arma2 should be thanking their lucky stars for Rocket and DayZ, he has brought that game back from the dead.

$25 is not the $15 that many people got it for in May.

Aren't the textures really crappy if you go this route? It may seem like I'm being overly cheap, but $15 seems about right. Its not like this mod is polished like a retail product, and I don't think anyone cares about ARMA 2 by itself.

The textures are a bit more crappy, yes.

Amazon had Combined Ops on sale for $15 a month or two ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Steam had it on sale for about the same.

There are certainly people who still care about Arma II vanilla; you can find some United Operations servers with people playing. I think most of the community moved on to Operation Arrowhead though.

I agree with Childs. I really want in for $15 but am having a hard time to swallow $30. A co-worker has talked me into it though so I'll be biting the bullet tonight.

I did try to buy the game from that $25 Christmas sale but my credit card company declines it and calls me about attempted fraud on my card so I'll just skip the hassle and buy it on steam.

A warning to all: In version 1.7.2 there is a bug where equipping any clothing will cause you to glitch and lose all items. I found a ghillie suit for the first time yesterday and found out the hard way.

No problem! We have some really friendly people inside Teamspeak, too. Just please have some patience with some of the server-side adjustments. We're tuning to see if we can run 2 40 man servers on different times.
