I just picked up the HL2: Collectors edition for $50. I figured it was cheaper than the silver package, so it was a decent deal. However, I forgotten about DoD:S and all that.

Will us retailers be able to play it? Will we have to pay extra?

Thanks

If I have to buy a silver account because I can't add DOD:S to my retail version I'm going to be doing some loud cursing.

Didn't you read? About $10 extra for DoD:S. Both retail versions were a ripoff even without that knowledge of DoD:S. I can't believe so many computer-savvy guys on here bought retail. Steam Silver is a kickass deal. Who cares about having the cds? I formatted last weekend and just now got Steam back. I was jonesin' for some DoD and I downloaded the whole HL + DoD from Steam in under 8 minutes. All you need is your account/password and you can have it on any computer.

Its not that big of a deal for me, but I always love extra games. Hopefully something will become available for us retail owners. I was actually waiting to get the silver package from Steam, but the Collectors Edition was on sale for cheap, thats the only reason why I picked it up instead of waiting for the Silver.

I read the thread, and it all looks like speculation to me. Are there any offical announcement/sources out?

Not only that but you can actually use STEAM's backup utility and make your own game cds.
