Wonder how much they'll sell it for those who only got the bronze edition or regular retail package?Along with the breakthrough of Half-Life 2, Valve promised its new engine would also power re-builds of classic Half-Life mods like Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat. We've been playing Counter-Strike: Source for months now, of course, but little has been said about the new version of Defeat, the WWII modification.
Today, Valve finally broke silence. The company announces that Day of Defeat: Source is now approaching beta, and the final version should be available "early this spring" via the Steam service.
As with Counter-Strike: Source, Valve is giving Day of Defeat a full make-over using all the tasty tricks of the Source engine. The battle in Western Europe will now feature advanced physics, completely new audio, enhanced effects, and updated maps. Two first screenshots give you a sense of the change.
Steam users will be able to order Day of Defeat: Source when it's released this spring. Gamers who ordered the Silver or Gold Half-Life 2 packages via Steam should receive Day of Defeat: Source automatically when it's available.
