It's so true.

The snow won't melt that is the thing, it's a new ice age. You won't have that 'hurricane' deal, so some snow may melt off a bit. (it's all exaggerated as far as the science behind it)...

That's the jist of it though, it's going to be cold everywhere, I believe even the equatorial countries that percieved as safe would be more temperate now than tropical.

Some people expected too much out of this movie ... ie, the people saying it was horrible.

you knew from the previews it would be a visual treat with a typical story line ... so why look for a LOTR type movie? go into the movie knowing what to expect, and you will be happy.

with that said, I enjoyed the movie greatly! I thought it was great and would recommend it. I will admit it was very cheesey, especially with the donnie darko guy who is not a good actor. However I knew going into this movie it would be a typical summer movie ... visually entertaining with a typical, subtle story line ... and I got just that. I was very pleased and look forward to the dvd :)

P.S. /flame suit on'

This movie is not based on a discovery channel special fyi.

I saw this last night and took it for what it is which is two hours of mindless entertainment. I didn't analyze each scientific aspect of the movie because that would have taken the fun out of it. I like disaster flicks and it was sure better than Volcano with the equally absurd premise that a previously unknown volcano becomes active under LA. Also, if I can ignore Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum in Independence Day uploading a computer virus onto an ALIEN SHIP that so happens to have the correct TCP/IP protocols, then I can handle anything.

If I required absolute authenticity in each and every movie I saw then my movie watching days would be far and few between.

Bah. It's full of stupid ecocentric rhetoric and tree hugging bullsh|t. The entire movie is based on a myth. And, while lots of my favorite movies are based on myths, none of them are based on a myth that I absolutely DETEST. I thought a movie about the polar ice caps melting and the struggle to fight human extinction would be cool. And, for the most part, the movie was great -with all the people freezing instantly and stuff. But ... I just can't seem to get the whole ecoterrorism thing out of my head. We are NOT destroying the planet by driving to work every day. I don't care what anyone else thinks; it's a load of crap.
