I would like to stop but everytime I've tried I feel like a really tired sack of sh!t. I'm going to try and slowly go off it. Right now I drink about six cans per day. I did switch to diet a few years ago so at least its not high caloric....but there is probably more caffeine then my heart should handle.

I drink craploads of water, too (probably 6-8 pint glasses per day), but it hasn't helped me quit drinking pop heh.

Dude, that's so harmful to your system. nm...quit if you can.

Chocolate has cafeine so you can have your food and your boost in one tasty morsel.

You can have my coffee when you pry it out of my cold, lifeless hands.

It tastes great at give an extra punch when needed. I only drink 1-2 cups a day though.

There's nothing that suggests that coffee is bad. However, it does cause your body to produce cortisol. The cortisol tells your body to store fat. I don't want to store any more fat than I have to.

Plus the cafeine troubles me. That's all. Keep drinking, there's a host of benefits to be derived from it, including preventing alzheimers.

How addictive can pop and coffee be?

That's what i was wondering... I could never understand people who drink more then a can of pop in a day... that stuff is just too incredibly sweet... feels like it's rotting my teeth and mouth on contact...

Coffee has never been an "addiction" per se. For me it's more part of a routine in the morning, though it's rare that i actually finish a cup of coffee before leaving for work in the morning.. i might have a cup in the office, but not so much lately. No headaches to speak of, but I haven't really paid any attention to it either..

I had the same ritual. I would drink two large cups and head to the gym. About 15 minutes into my workout I began to feel the full effect of the java and it was a bit scary. That's about 500mg of caffeine and it had a profound impact on my body.

I'm not feeling tired yet but I do tend to yawn a bit more than average. I have subbed in chai tea for now but fell that I may be off all together eventually.

I don't drink any caffeine. Never been a fan of tea and coffee tastes like a$$. Was a Coke junkie thanks to my old job but stopped drinking anything with caffeine at the end of 2003. Don't miss it one bit.

Moderation is not an easy thing to do, some people just have to go all or none.
Coffee is not an issue for me ,I drink 2 large cups , equivalant to 6 small cups in the morning..thats it , none at work and none the rest of the day.

Holy BULLSHIT that's a lot of soda... are you fvcking stupid?
When I was a freshman in college, one of our TA's for a class we were taking carried around a 2L bottle of regular coke to drink. 4 years later as a senior, I ran into him in the labs, he was working on his PhD research, and still carrying around a 2L bottle of coke to drink each day.

I don't know how anyone can drink that much soda in a day.

I thought I drank a lot back in HS when I would have maybe 3-4 cans a day... more on the weekends... Gave up drinking soda a couple years ago though... now I only have it very rarely, usually with alcohol.

I switched to decaf because of the effects of caffeine, but never thought about cortisol.

/me looks at his beer gut

Maybe I should quit coffee altogether....

damn you people drink a lot of soda & coffee!!

I stopped drinking COke/Pepsi for hte most part and at the most I'll have a can of COke in a month or something.

Does Nestea iced tea (the ones in the can) have the same effect?

I would imagine that the tea would have more caffeine than the soda, and probably just as much suger. I used to drink that stuff like water back in the day... it just goes down to fast.

I think its hard to quit drinking coffee. It's just as hard as quitting smoking or having sex. Not that there's anything wrong with having more sex....LOL...
