I was pretty addicted for 8 months or so. I had like 10 tubes at any time ... few at work, few in the car, few at home ... etc ...

At the dermatologist I mentioned it ... and he said chapstick DRIES YOUR LIPS!!! He said vaseline is what you should use!! I was like OMG ...

Anyways, I stopped cold turkey and have only needed it once or twice after the initial withdrawals.

It's not so much that they are addicting, as it is some that there are people breath through their mouth and lick their lips more often than other people.

When my sinuses act up, I MUST have some blistex (DCT) to help with my chapped lips because breathing through my mouth dries my lips.

Also, people with big lips often chap up far easier than those with thin or small lips.

I always have some with me and I usually use it once or twice a day. I don't use any of that medicated stuff though. Just the plain non-flavored, non-scented, chapstick.

My problem is that if my lips start to get really dry, I can't help licking them and that makes it get worse.

I am addicted to lip balm but a tube a week is a lot!
My favorite one right now is Burt?s Bees.

I never use chapstick regularly.. if I ever have a problem I just lick my lips. I really don't see the point in the stuff.

I do use it, but that's only when I snowboard.

I carry chapstick and go thru, maybe, a tube every 4-6 weeks. I don't believe it is an addiction. I do believe that I have made a habit out of it and I now lick my lips a lot more than before. And licking your lips dries them out. I'm working on breaking the habit.

I bought one of those 4 packs maybe 2 years ago, and keep losing the damn things. Eventually I find them, but I dont think i've even finished one stick yet.

My lips are in pain. Stupid Chapstick addiction. But hey, here's hope for all the other people here with the addiction. ;)

I beg to differ. When she's rooting around in her purse for some, I used to grab some out of the drawer in my desk, put it on, and make some comment about her borrowing some from me. :D

A technic that I always have used is to put it on before I go to bed, that way my lips seem to be great in the morning and it lasts all day. Rarely do I have to put it on more than right before I go to bed.
