Very short impression. AWESOME.
I went to THQ's office in Holland, and I got to play like 4-5 hours. I'm sure some of you have played the beta, but this is pretty different. The beginning is maybe a bit mundane, in the sense that it's nothing new, but it's still very cool. I mean, the cover system, the jumppacks, the physx, the way you equip your squads. Makes every level a lot of fun to play.
The faster you finish a map btw, the less casualties you take, and the more enemys you kill, the more experience you get. You will be forced to make decisions on where to fight, because if you don't defend a place in like 2-3 days, it will be overrun, but usually you can only deploy once a day. Decisions ...
Now, Tyranids. I fought them on 1 map, and it was pretty cool. They really feel like a swarming enemy, they keep coming and even though they don't deal a whole lot of damage (the big ones do, the small ones don't), you can get overwhelmed.
All in all, awesome. Oh, and not sure if this has been told yet, but there will be a brawl mode. You get dropped into heavy enemy fortifications and you have to survive for as long as possible. Also, defending a map is pretty fun, it's pretty much multiple waves coming at you, which you have to fend of. In the beginning it's easy, later on when tanks and stuff come at you, it gets a bit more challenging
