Can't believe we don't have a thread on this game....

Anyone interested in this? I for one cannot WAIT!!!! The campaign for the original was awesome... multiplayer was just alright IMO... but the one type of game play where you just control the HQ and fought waves was fun as fuck for a while too.

I'm mostly interested in the new units the patch will bring to existing races and the trueskill reset (mine is screwed up). Don't actually plan on getting the expansion though, not interested in single-player or using Chaos.

I would get it but I'm busy with Bad Company 2 right now but I'll definitely get it later as im an RTS junkie.

I enjoyed the game, despite the fact that they made the Space Marines total whiny pansies in the SP story. But whatever, I played a ton of MP and enjoyed myself. Gameplay itself was great.

Chaos was always my favorite, gonna have to pick up this expansion.

I'm really looking forward to it. Preordered it on Steam soon as it went up with getting a free copy of Saints Row 2.

Loved DoW1 and DoW2. The Last Stand was phenomenally good fun in teams.

Be very careful with Pre-Ordering in this case. Steam UK has it for £30 + Saints Row 2 but you can pick it up for £17 inc p&p (shipping) online.

One burning question I have is: Is it like Dawn of War 2 where if you buy the retail version, you are forced to register it to Steam and it then becomes a Steam game? If so, I'll just pick this up from a store as I cant see the point in paying £13 for the privilege of having the game in Steam and a free game that I'll never play.

I'm excited for this too, looks really well done. I'm curious though, do people not want to play as chaos simply out of principle? I mean, if an expansion looks good, why would you deny yourself owning it? I've seen numerous people say they don't want to play as chaos, and I'm wondering if it's something like Dungeons and Dragons DM's not letting people play a certain alignment because they don't like it.

I'd like to find a good price on it but $30 isn't terrible, depending on how much content they cram in. The two new Last Stand heroes are going to be excellent.

I thought DoW2 had a few great ideas/improvements over the original, but the mission structure took a gigantic step backwards. There were only two mission types: kill the boss or defend against waves of attackers. The maps seemed completely uninspired to me. I hope that the mission variety in CR is vastly improved.

Replaying the DoWII campaign to quell my anxiousness towards this... Honestly, I think the gameplay took a gigantic step forwards from the previous iteration (which was still a great game). No other RTS has this type of squad-based/RPG (CoH of course, but not to this extent) gameplay and it allows the developers greater flexibility in terms of storyline and sticking to 40k lore.

I can't wait to play Chaos

I have the entire collection of version 1 but when they went with steam required version 2 became a buy the final collection when released for pennies on the dollar buy choice.

I've had the DoW2 since around launch and I pretty much exclusively play Eldar online. Played Space Marines a couple of times, never used Tyranid or Orks outside of a skirmish to try them. Not interested in playing Chaos either, so I'm not going to fork $30 for a race I don't want to play as. I'm like this in other games too. In SSBB I only play as Marth.

Now, if the expansion had Imperial Guard, I would buy it day 1.

That makes sense. Is all the 30 dollars giving you an additional race? I could see that. And yeah, IG would be excellent.

I'll buy it, I can't wait for it, but as much as I like DoW 2 (not as much as the original however, but still, it's a good game overall, I don't regret buying it) I really hate Games for Windows Live and its on-line match-making system... or lack thereof, it really is a total joke, especially when something as simple as filtering joining player's pings isn't possible at all, in a modern game, is something that goes way beyond my understanding, it's also one of the reasons why I play it off-line mostly.

yeah I love the squad based strategy, it is great....

Chaos looks like a load of fun, and taking your characters to 30 with loads new weapons sounds awesome as hell

Anyone know if Chaos Rising is going to require Steam and GFWL like DoW2?

I don't mind if it does (love Steam, no issues with DoW2 and GFWL) but I am curious.

Sorry. I saw it advertised a while ago, but Dawn of War 2 just wasnt much fun for me.
All they did was change the textures and models over from Company of Heroes, and the gameplay isnt even as good.

Dawn of War 2 wasn't as fun as 1 overall for me, but I still had a good time. Will most likely be getting the expansion. In part because of love Genestealers!

I installed it this morning. Steam said it was 1mb and while I can play it, TONS of graphics are missing. Anyone else have this happen?

The update had the same effect for me. I was missing my entire character models and building models.

BUT... despite having the hard copy in my hand I am still unable to install or do anything so I cannot provide you with much more help than 'go to Steam or Relic forums'.
