there is a chance i might go see this tonight, and was just curious from those who have seen it, if it is a movie that would benefit from seeing it in 3d.

i saw godzilla in 3d (for timing purposes, wanted to see it in 2d) and the 3d really added nothing at all.

DotPotA is pretty dark; lots of night, forest stuff. I would expect the 3D to make things hard to see.

I saw GotG in 3D just because of timing, but that was a pretty bright, colourful film, so the 3D did not impact it too much (not that it really added anything either). DotPotA is not bright or colourful, so I think the 3D would not be very beneficial.

Just my opinion of course.

I saw it in 2d and can't really think of any scenes save for maybe the final fight sequence benefiting at all from 3d. In fact, it is likely to detract from the overall movie. I'd see it in 2d (as I do with every movie).

It seems like no one really wants 3D, yet every theater is all about 3D. I see a problem here.

i like 3d a lot when it's done well, but some movies it adds nothing, and in some cases can detract from the experience. but 3d was awesome in avatar, 3d animated flicks, and jurassic park is probably the best "live action" 3d movie i've seen. either that or gravity.

when i saw godzilla in 3d, the screen was all dirty or had scratches all over it. because of that, it was hard to focus and see the 3d because my eyes kept focusing on the scratches during bright scenes. you couldn't really see the scratches/dirty stuff during darker scenes, but in bright scenes it kept messing with my focus.

I think 3D translates really well to films created just for 3D (Avatar) or films created just for 2D and then 3D'd later (Jurassic Park, Episode 1, etc). Those kind of inbetweeners are what ends up bad. They just add in gimmicks that just look stupid. If they just focused more on making a sense of depth and not just having things pop out of the screen at your face, it would turn out better.
