AMD can't test for frame latency? How do you think they wrote a driver to fix it?

I work in software. There are often software fixes made with no way to test, or no testing done. Read code, see code that looks wrong, fix, commit, let some other bloke test it.

I'm corrected then. Thank you.

Reading the Anandtech Article about AMD's issue would tell you that AMD do have a way to test for latency issues. But apparently no one is reading AT's reviews anymore cause they don't have the info they need. :colbert:

This driver issue stuff is also complete BS. Do you remember when the FX5800 ultra came out? If you do then you know nvidia's drivers were absolutely terrible in both performance and image quality. 6800 Ultra? It had IQ issues in a lot of games as well. 7800GTX? it was ok, but it couldn't run HDR. Fermi's drivers with the early texture issues? Starcraft 2 menus killing nVidia cards? Nvidia drivers killing cards, then after that, GTX590s dying cause the drivers OCP didn't work properly. The Adaptive v-sync bug? Fermi stuttering? GTX680 stuttering in BF3, The clocking bug that nV had? When Surround launched it had a crap ton of issues too. Who else makes GPUs? Intel? How are their drivers? Don't make me laugh.

nVidia has had just as many driver issues as AMD. if not more serious ones. Yes, granted SLI has been smoother for the entirety of the current generation. If these issues were always there how come nobody picked them up during the 4 series? Where crossfire was far superior to SLI. Every review of the 4870X2 had crossfire working perfectly. Same with the 5970 and the 6990.

GCN is a brand new architecture and arguably more complex than kepler. It is a compute powerhouse. It compete with Titan with much less resources and Die size. It is incredibly fast a OCL stuff. nvidia's drivers in regards to OCL are an absolute mess.
Well said

From my experience, Nvidia is quicker to resolve their issues, though AMD has improved a lot recently.

lol these muti gpu pro's and con's threads

-either amd or nv[cf or sli] pro's / con's comments should be verified by sig's. fact or dreaming

-as many can't afford multi gpu's [so stated] or play in non demanding games[so stated]low res/settings ]so stated -it just messes up the user reply's base .
-lots of options base on their wallet thickness. mostly 3rd hand bs at best in most cases ,or low bs monitors if in fact REAL multi gpu user see a micro stutter issues .

-but non multi gpu user's carry on with your overview of what MIGHT be better CF or SLI. makes for fun reading.

-2013 new word = RUNT frames = AMD gpu's bad , voted as bad by most non multi gpu users [nv single card user's?] lol.

With more awareness, tools, features and flexibility are potentially offered -- gamers may find more value with multi-GPU. Surely this makes some sense instead of strongly defending runt frames by laughing?

Yes, apparently Nvidia single card gamers, who can't or won't ever own multi GPU, are now the world's foremost experts.

But, gamers don't create runt frames. Gamers are not offering prototype drivers to help curb them. Thankfully, there is awareness.

Hey good idea...people who don't own Ferraris shouldn't be allowed to comment about their good and bad points either right?
