Assuming it is suicide, it's his life. People who commit suicide do it because it's more painful to keep living than to die. If there is anything that you deserve to be selfish about, it's how your life ends. To say a guy should keep living a life of pain so his family can avoid the pain of dealing with his death which will eventually happen regardless of his actions - THAT is selfish.

Depends on what you're talking about. Terminal cancer patients are one thing. I don't know what Carradine's issue was, but most suicides are not rational decisions, they are acts of desperation and depression because the person sees no way out of whatever situation they are in. I'll assume you weren't referring to teen suicides.
