Ate some on a dare from a friend if he went first. He took a huge finger swab, he was crying before I even started.

I literally had to leave the room, down two slices of bread, three glasses of milk, and ¼bag of potato chips to get it to stop burning.

15 minutes of torture.

However, if you ever need to get back a roomie.

FrustratedUser:

Yes, cookies would have helped sop up the oils too :)

Arkitech:

Remind me to google my challenges before starting them next time. 80,000 scoville is nasty stuff :Q (<-- Very good picture of how my face was)

I don't think you understand how potent some of these sauces are.

Many people consider Tobasco (sp?) sauce hot, it rates what... 2-3K scoville units? Some of these sauces are 7+ million.

Holy sh!t, it's been a while since I've looked - 16 million?

Look where Dave's is on the list - It barely registers.

Try sugar water, should help a bit. There's some other crazy stuff called "the source" which is rather hot; rated at 7.1 Million Scoville Units, but it's really meant for making large quantities of mass produced foods hot, not a "hot sauce".

You don't eat really, really hot food alot do you?

Remember basic chem class or cooking for that matter??? It is the oil from the habs/peppers that make it hot.

What basic ingredient cuts oil? Milk---no, bread----no, water---hell no. Vinegar, vinegar cuts oil.

Go forth and eat...and remember "It ain't hot unless it burns the same coming out as it did going in!"

acutally dairy is basic and neutralizes the acidty of the hot sauce. Hence sour cream and milk are good to fight hot foods.

lol, i will never forget, working at a bar after a home football game in college, some asshats from the oppossing team were being PITAs and made comments on how the first batch of wings weren't real hot, they obviously don't know how to make wings here, etc, etc....happened to have a bottle of insanity in the back, half of it went into their next order of 3 dozen wings (i think it was that many). those poor idiots were crying for like 10 minutes, downed a gallon of milk apiece, could barely talk for the next hour (the rest of the bar was thrilled). funniest thing in the world was seeing their faces after they scarfed like 3 wings a piece and it hit them.....:)

That is what everybody says.....take a bite of a hab and then take a big mouthfull of milk. You feel pain free for a very short period of time, then the pain continues.

Here is some info on the scoville ratings of various Dave hot sauces:

Total Insanity - 48,000
Insanity - 51,000
Temporary Insanity - 57,000
Ultimate Insanity - 90,000
Private Reserve Insanity year 2003 - 500,000

From what I remember the 2 hottest sauces (i.e. not made from extracts and/or not considered a food additive) are:
Mad Dog 357 Collectors Edition 600,000
Blair's Megadeath Sauce 550,00

There are higher "sauces" but are made from mixing highly concentrated capscium extracts with other sauces/spices to make the hot sauce.

The highest in scoville rating is 16 million at which point is pure capscium rxtract (i.e. the chemical that makes hot sauce hot). Blair's 6A.M. extract yields a scoville rating of up the the 16 million mark.

Most if not all hot "sauces" or extracts rated at 1 million or higher scovilles come with warning labels to prevent lawsuits from peeps stupid enough to take the stuff straight and not have a high tolerance.

I have had some that when the extra wings were put into styrofoam containers and in the fridge overnight, they turned the wings black and ate holes through the styrofoam. Picked the container up the next morning (only had 3 small wings) and the entire bottom fell out.:Q
