Why is it that a lot (not all) black people rip totally on other races (mostly white), but they cry when white people rip on them? i think it's totally hypocritical.

Well, he wouldn't be dead, just relegated to a backwoods comedy lounge protected by a militia, and he'd never be hired by Comedy Central or Fox.

whew! /wipes brow

dumb down his material? i don't think thats even possible. in interviews he's said things that were just dumb. not dumb to be funny. sad dumb..real sad.

Because two wrongs don't make a right. If a black person calls you a cracker, does that mean you should call him the N word? Sure, you have the right to, but is it the correct thing to do. Also, the N word has a lot more negative stigma carried with it than the term cracker.

Lol.. thats total BS...
and i'm sure you think that "my lover" or "beloved patriot" or "******" or any other slur is not as bad either to those that its aimed at.. again just the black mans perspective..
all slurs are hateful and really have no place in any conversation..

"******" only carries more stigma than "cracker" because people are afraid of big black guys with guns.

Cocaine's a hell of a drug.

Way I see it, the guy is funny. I'll watch clips of him, find them funny, and that's their purpose. I don't care if the guy is insane, rich, homosexual, black, white, american, saudi arabian whatever, fact is, his performances make me laugh, and that's why I watch them. If he stops doing stuff, so what, I'll watch his old stuff, and then watch some other comedian I find funny. Good luck to the guy.

However, consider that their culture is different than everyone elses. The way they were brought up, their enviroment all contributes to this. Don't forget it was only a few decades ago when a black person didn't even have the same rights as a white person. There is a lot of animosity still.

As for Dave Chappelle, I don't even watch that show. Saw it a few times, did not find it funny. So I can't comment on that.
EVERYONE complains. skin color need not be mentioned.

get mad when someone calls you a cracker...see if anyone cares, hell if anyone even takes you seriously. now if a strapped brotha gets on you for saying ******, i'm sure you'd be a little afraid. I'm just saying, who are you more scared off.

anyway, dave chappelle is the man...i can see him getting upset over what comedy central is trying to do to him. you people seem to hate mtv culture for what its doing to music, but for some reason this isnt the same? It prolly IS cause he's black.

How exactly does Chappelle make fun of whites? Are you really that insulted that he says white people will dance to an electric guitar instead of drums like black people?

Of course he makes fun of white people. He makes fun of all races. Don't ignore the fact that he does that just because it is funny. The dancing to electric guitar was a tame skit he did. Others are ridiculously racist. He makes white people look like scared, anally retentive idiots in a lot of his skits (either that or racists). Mind you, I think it is hilarious, but that doesn't mean you can ignore the fact that he is using stereotypes.

Like if I gave you $100 and told you to go buy whatever you want. You go and buy an Xbox game and come back to me. Then I bitch at you for buying the game even though I gave you the money and said do whatever.

It is about taking responsibility for your action... Like your parents saying you dont have a curfew, but then come in ~2AM they are going to get upset at you and ground you for not making a wise decision.

well, white people do own everything.
and he does mock out black people as much as he does white people.
if you dont think he does, i have no idea what dave chappelle you have seen.
that was part of the problem he had: he was making jokes about black people and became uncomfortable that young white suburban culture accepted and assimilated it so easily. at some point he said something like he was shooting a skit and was creeped out that one of his white actors was just laughing too hard at a racist joke toward black people.

I had the pleasure of hearing Paul Mooney's cd from 1992, RACE -- he said some of the funniest things on that disc. You probably remember him from the skit "Ask A Black Guy" on Chappelle.
Have you checked out the last episode of "The Richard Pryor Show." Paul Mooney was great. Actually that entire last episode, where the cast and crew pretty much roasted Richard, was awesome. I highly recommend checking it out. It's on Netflix or Blockbuster online....one or the other.

All things come from Pryor :D

heh, and yet he has no problem with all the black folks cracking up and laughing just as hard at the white jokes. gimme a break.

It sounds more like he couldn't handle the pressure, or the success, or the need to come up with enough material for a second season, but he's never really explained himself.

I heard him say once that he was doing a skit making fun of black people and that he realized some people weren't laughing at the "comedy" of it and were actually laughing AT him. in other words, "WHITEY" was laughing AT the black man and not the satire/comedy itself.

Whatever--get over yourself. Give me 50 million and you can laugh at me all you want.

If Dave Chapelle was white and said this in reference to black people owning everything.. Chapelle would have been fired within days.. Guaranteed!

Chappelle has always been pro black and had that mentality, that the man owns everything. He is venting on how it's frustrating to be a minority. Either he could have worded what he meant better, or he is just plain ignorant and doesn't know that there are many places where blacks can chill with their friends (in public) and be themselves.
