Sounds like the kid made a joke and Culpepper just played along with it.
Agreed.

That's what I would have assumed. Who realisticly asks someone that kind of question?

Yeah, he was probably playing along.
He never actually said" here these are yours".
Just that the stupid family assumed too much.
Even though, its really bad PR for Culpepper because he is a good guy.

Lots of sports figures are basically egotistical a$$holes, making it even stupider to idolize them (aside from the fact that they have skills that are of no real use to society, and are bad role models in many other ways).

He clearly didn't give the kid the bling bling. This hardly makes him an ass OP!

I kinda feel sorry for Daunte in this instance. He was put on the spot, and, not being the brightest bulb in the box, he reacted the way he did. I do tend to think he should not have given the kid his necklaces in the first place, and once he had done so, he should've let him keep them. That said, I don't think this is evidence of him being a bad guy, and I'm sure he'll give the kid the nicest thing he or his parents own, as a consolation prize.

Sounds like he got a double shot of reality considering he hit the nail squarely on the head.
