Daumn, I have to move to Virginia :-(

What part of Virginia? I live in southern central virginia. Not much to do around here. But up north there are a ton of things to do.

Charlottesville

I don't know to much about Charlottesville, but I know it is a big college town, so there should be a lot of stuff to do. I think University of Virginia is there.

You might have to get used to the humidity.

Hmm...VA requires front plates AND doesn't allow radar detectors, right? Hmm...not liking it already...

Same goes for New York man, where've you been hiding?

Actually right now my front plate is between the center console & the passenger side seat. When I drive I kinda set it up on the dash, but it doesn't fit well. Anyways I looked it up & it's only a $25 ticket, and I don't want to mess it up trying to do it while it's snowing out.

As for the radar...it's legal to have, just not to be on 🙂. Anyways, gonna get a stealth kit and mount a kill switch somewhere within easy reach (down by the shifter most likely).

yeb, UVA.

I'm in Blacksburg, VA. Home of the hokies. Bigger college town here than Charlottesville.

Look on the bright side, the cost of living is a lot cheaper in Charlottesville than in Northern VA.

I think a cheap ass 2 bedroom apt is around $1100/month.

That's fugging Xpensive!!

Awww, c'mon Virginia isn't so bad. After all, I live in the state. 😉

Charlottesville should be a bit cheaper when it comes to living versus the Northern Virginia area where I'm from. Here, towhomes on my street are currently selling for $265 - $270K. 2 Bedroom apartments are in the range of $1,400 & up. I'm not too how the area will compare in prices with the area you currently live in. However, if Virginia is more expensive, hopefully, the company will adjust the salaries accordingly.

I do know one thing for sure, automotive insurance in Virginia is pretty cheap when compared to ther states. Currently, our gas prices range from $1.49 - $1.72 for 87 octane gasoline. Take everything into consideration. Where you're going to be located, you'll be about 4 -5 hours away from the Virginia beaches. You'll be about 1 hour away from the Shanandoah mountains and Skyline Drive. Plus, there are some lakes towards the south that are pretty popular and not too pricey when it comes to summer rentals.

Remember, your time here will only be as good as you make it. Hopefully, you make the best of it. Are you currently in the process of applying for citizenship? Or, is that not currently an option for you?

The little research I've done so far shows that apartments seems to be ~30% more expensive than here and the company do not adjust for that 🙁
At the moment Citizenship is not an option. I am H1B so it can be renewed for another term adding up to a maximum of 6 years, that gives me another 5. A green-card could be an option.
I guess it's not so bad going to VA but I just love the climate here in AZ (June, July can be a bit hot but....).
Hell, mountainbiking in T-shirt all year long, sunshine 350 days/year. Hard to beat that.

On the other hand I get to see more of the country, especially the history. 🙂
I must say I like it here (US that is). All is not great but you've done a good job here 😉
To many lawyers makes insurance a real pain compared to other countries :disgust:

😀
