Just checked, there doesn't seem to be anything against this in Chinese Tradition as well, which is weird since Chinese tradition goes against everything.

GREEN LIGHT!

More simply put....your 2nd cousins neice (in law)....too distant to be any kind of issue. Reading that....is she much younger than you?

Isn't strictly speaking marrying cousins legal??....in some states?....hmmm might be here in the UK too...dunno....but of course the social/family aspects are not good.

GREEN LIGHT!

THAT'S MY GRANDMOTHERS BROTHER FATHER SON DAUGHTER MOTHER DADDY MOMMY BROTHER DAUGHTER named EMILY! Don't even think about going out with her!

Someone said second cousin and everybody started repeating him. Actually, the blood line is:

Grandfather - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -> Grandfather's brother (your great uncle)
| |
Your Parent (Grandfather's child) - - - - - - > Grandfather's son (your uncle)
| |
You - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -> Your uncle's son (your first cousin) - - - -> his wife.

So, you're talking about dating your first cousin's wife - no problem if they're separated or divorced. BIG problem if they're married. 😉

If your first cousin has a kid, that kid is your first cousin once removed. Second cousins to each other are the children of first cousins.

Now, to answer your question: In most states, contrary to most people's belief's, the closest relative you can marry is your first cousin. Whether your dating your cousin's wife violates Chinese tradition, I can't help you there.
