Date popup is behind XP taskbar when hovering over time??

I've always found the date popup when hovering over the time display in the Windows taskbar to be pretty handy. For some reason, the date popup on my laptop (running XP SP1) is behind the taskbar when I hover the mouse cursor over the time display. So I have to hover over the very top of the time display to be able to see it. The popups for the system tray icons to the left of the time don't have this problem. Anyone know how this happened, and how to fix it?

Happens to me once in a while, seems to be related to things taking over the resolution for full-screen stuff, but may also happen with other things. Usually it either just goes away eventually, or a reboot or logoff/logon fixes it.

i get the same thing.. but only at my work computer, never at home. go figure

Just clicking on the taskbar before hovering over has always fixed it for me, but I use W2K.

Happens randomly to me too. Sometimes changing the "Always on top" setting fixes it, sometimes it doesn't.

yeah that happens..i dont know why..but it just does..something like gone kookoos or something when that happen..but everything else seems to be working fine.

justs log off and log back on to fix the prob. at least i think it will fix the problem..i know a system reboot will definetaly fix it.

When the date disappears behind the task bar an easy fix is to simply double click on the time. The date/time window opens. Click the Cancel button.

The date should now be visible normally when you hover your mouse over the time.

Use to do it all the time in XP Pro but lately it has been working correctly. 🙂

I've fooled around with these and other suggestions and was underwhelmed... 🙁

Then, quite by accident, I hovered over the top of the task bar and got the vertical arrow cursor...

I found that if I clicked and dragged that up so that the task bar was at least three lines wide, the date I was looking for magically appeared... 🙂

At that point, you can simply drag it back to the original width (one line in my case) in one continuous motion and release the mouse button.

Everything's back to where it was except now you know the date (until you forget it again! 😉 )
