Database design software?

Is there any software that will allow you to diagram tables and thier relationship to one another, while graphically showing all your tables on one screen at the same time?

It's difficult to picture relations and redundancy between tables without being able to see a list of the fields in the database at once.

Well, Visio is cool and all, but are you looking for something that is open source?

Microsoft Access (relationships screen)
Microsoft Visio (you can do it by hand or import from Access, a very nice feature)
There's a few I've found on download.com (search ERD or entity relationship diagram), but I haven't found any free ones that were worth using.

I'm not sure, but Filemaker Pro might be a good one. (This is a designer, not a programmer, saying this, so take it as such 😉 )

Have used before for mysql... should be able to find similiar programs for other database servers.

How about DBDesigner 4? It's open source and seems pretty good.

Visio will generate ER diagrams automatically.
