i can no longer boot ino winxp pro

when i try and boot into it, i get a message that im missing files
when i try and repair the OS, it says that it can not copy certain files

what i am looking for is a tool that will allow me copy the my documents directory to my 2ndary sata drive that doesnt require booting into windows that has a graphical interface

i have two folders that i want to copy and then i can ditch the drive for a new one. my other computer in the house only has ide ports so i cant remove this sata drive and put it as a slave for my other computer

any suggestions?

Use a dos or linux boot disk and just copy the files over. Also, pray that you haven't messed with the permissions...

when i use linux cd, the drive shows up as 3 drives and only the first one has something visible in it and this isnt the folder i am interested in (just the dell folder). the other two dont have anything in them.

when i boot to dos using the command consule repair or whatever windows calls it, i dont know how to select my documents since it is greater than 8 characters

i cant slave it to another system since my other systems dont have sata
